plott1964 Posted September 15, 2023 Posted September 15, 2023 Does anyone know how to change the VR FOV settings for replaying tracks? Every time I replay a VR mission the FOV seems to be up too close. speed-of-heat Posted September 15, 2023 Posted September 15, 2023 lots of different ways depending on your headset but inside DCS, look at Force IPD Distance, which isnt IPD , but an FOV tool SYSTEM SPECS: Hardware AMD 9800X3D, 64Gb RAM, 4090 FE, Virpil T50CM3 Throttle, WinWIng Orion 2 & F-16EX + MFG Crosswinds V2, Varjo Aero SOFTWARE: Microsoft Windows 11, VoiceAttack & VAICOM PRO YOUTUBE CHANNEL: @speed-of-heat
plott1964 Posted September 15, 2023 Author Posted September 15, 2023 (edited) confused... Currently, I have Force IPD off. Technically, that should be a setting for interpupillary distance. This makes sense for VR. Where can I find more info regarding that it is a FOV tool? Here's the situation. I fly a mission in VR and save the track. Then I play (track) in the mission back in regular (non-VR) mode. The FOV of the replay track displays the view as closer to everything and I feel it should be set further back. I have missed with several sections with the Options.lua, SnapViews.lua, and a couple other files. ...but to no avail. speed-of-heat Posted September 15, 2023 Posted September 15, 2023 Try using it... It has nothing to do with IPD like i said previously... Tracks made in VR must be replayed in VR, there are no way around. Else, re-do your track in 2D and it will be fine on replay (in 2D). ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 9800X3D, RTX 4090, 96GB DDR 5, MSI Tomahawk 870E, Crucial 2TB x 2, TM WARTHOG COMBO + PENDULAR RUDDER PEDALS, THE AMAZING PIMAX 8K X, Sony 5.1 Spks+SubW | DCS, A-10C_II, AH-64D, F-14/15E/16/18, F-86F, AV-8B, M-2000C, SA342, Huey, Spitfire, FC3.
Gordy Posted September 17, 2023 Posted September 17, 2023 @plott1964Try the zoom in/zoom out controls (generally Rshift-numpad* and Rshift-numpad/), though those seem to be aircraft specific, so may vary. I replay VR tracks in 2d/pancake all the time, it's fine. Just don't change views, if you want to play back the head movements. Or if you want, you can take control of head movements yourself and look around with TrackIR or whatever during the replay - I'll do this sometimes if I'm playing back to record the flight, to make sure the right things are visible and the movement is smooth. The VR head movements can be too jerky.
matze140 Posted September 17, 2023 Posted September 17, 2023 But the World scale is only applied to the cockpit/GUI. The world scale in general can’t be adjusted or did I miss s.th.?
dburne Posted September 17, 2023 Posted September 17, 2023 If you are using Open XR then just use the Open XR Toolkit provided by @mbucchia it has all kinds of settings you can mess with. By design all the 3d world scale perception is affected by IPD setting but, obviously, you'll mostly see the difference around near objects, like in the cockpit. plott1964 Posted September 18, 2023 Author Posted September 18, 2023 Thanks for the help guys.... Better explained (I hope)... Replay of a VR mission in "pancake" mode is most definitely possible. However as soon as you hit an F-key or try to adjust anything but playback speed, you loose the head movements (and some other key presses) saved in the original track. I had originally thought it had something to do with FOV - obviously not. I will attempt to see if the Force IPD Distance feature actually effects the playback in pancake mode. But I would assume that is related to the VR experience as opposed to the playback of a VR experience. ...more unsolicited explanation: Why do I do this? Because I have to downgrade the graphics to run smoothly in VR, and in pancake mode I can crank everything all the way up and it looks awesome, just way too zoomed in because of this issue. Another option I have tried was to capture a video using Nvidia Geforce video capture, which works, but @ 1280x1280 res and the lower VR graphics settings. I just thought there had to be a better way.
