Hammer1-1 Posted October 5, 2023 Posted October 5, 2023 (edited) Thats in its powered on state. If you've had it plugged into your USB this whole time and it supplied power, theres your answer. I had a similar thing with my Reverb G2 stating that Ive about 1600 hours in SteamVR even though I dont even have 800 hours in the last 5 years of flying with ANY headset. If your LEDs are on, its on. I wouldnt have any idea how they would find that information out though unless its something they can see in its firmware? Im sure thats likely true.., its just that's not what they originally said. They said it had 496 sim / gaming used hours on it. Until I said impossible. They replied were your kids (which I don't have) on it. Only once I suggested that as a possibility (was their firmware counting hours computer has been on.....or was i sold used throttle as new) did they want subject changed....that throttle perhaps wasn't used 496 hours and my original honest observation of less than 200 hours use was accurate (basically a weeks worth of use) ....after they are ones that tried to bring it up to me.. But I agree with you. That's most obviously it. It was just odd for virpil to suggest I was lying about usage if that is easily a misconstrued reading (that they are more aware of then anybody). Least to a customer who's spent over $1500 with them....for a premium product to go down with less than at max 20 days of being on (496 hours) Edited October 5, 2023 by TMP95
Tom Kazansky Posted October 5, 2023 Posted October 5, 2023 (edited) @TMP95 Are you on Steam or standalone DCS? Steam logs every minute from the start of the software. The Logbook of DCS only tracks from the moment you are airborne till you touch down / crash. Cold starts, training on the ground, mission editor, loading, flights before software crashes and multiplayer time* are not logged. (*don't know if this is still the case) I play DCS only in VR and when in VR, I play 99% DCS, but my in game Logbook (since I've bought my VR headset) is far ftom the logged SteamVR time. Really far. (edit: for the sake of completeness, the game logs time scale accelerated time, as game time. e.g. 10 minutes airborne in 4x scale means 40 min in the logbook.) edit2: please don't get me wrong, It is not that I don't trust your statement, but I definitely don't trust the logbook when it comes to DCS software time. It's not made for that. Edited October 5, 2023 by Tom Kazansky

If they are using a key logger, then umm...thats a huge security risk. I wish I could read those hours of use from my devices myself. Even more from those that I've replaced in my past. Edited October 6, 2023 by Tom Kazansky
