tmansteve Posted October 17, 2023 Posted October 17, 2023 Not sure if this has been talked about, but when I am on target and DL13 screen is active, it's so hard to get the crosshair to move and stay in position. The DDI is SOI so I have control. TDC depress and try to move crosshair to pinpoint on target is a pain. I use the small joystick on my t16000 throttle. Has anyone got a better config or better way of doing this. Watch a load of Youtube videos but with no success. Might look at using tpod maybe. Any input would be great.
rob10 Posted October 17, 2023 Posted October 17, 2023 You could try setting TDC depress to a different button (rather than on your mini-stick) so that you're not trying to press and move with the mini-stick. Beyond that not a lot of options. 1
Foka Posted October 17, 2023 Posted October 17, 2023 I'm not sure if it works like that, but isn't it possible to move cross on the DDI, then press TDC depress to retarget missile?

Just tested it to refresh my brain because you made me remember doing what you described recently. And you are correct for the SLAM-ER. With it you move crosshairs, then TDC depress to move targeting. For the SLAM (non-ER version) it's like the Walleye or MAV where you have to HOLD TDC DEPRESSED to move the crosshairs and it moves to new target when you release the TDC. 1
tmansteve Posted October 18, 2023 Author Posted October 18, 2023 Thanks guys for the reply. I will check again. I noticed on a vid that the tpod is only used to select the target. The real problem is when I move the crosshair, it judders as if it is stuck and then it moves in an irratic way. It would be nice if it was smoother. Cheers
Solution razo+r Posted October 18, 2023 Solution Posted October 18, 2023 Do you have unrealistic TDC movement checked?
tmansteve Posted October 18, 2023 Author Posted October 18, 2023 Hey razo+r Not sure, will check that later. Forgot about it. Thanks for the reminder. Cheers

Try curvature or saturation (or both) for TDC joystick axis, it really helpful.
tmansteve Posted October 18, 2023 Author Posted October 18, 2023 Hi David I have setup saturation and curvature on the small joystick. Cheers
tmansteve Posted October 21, 2023 Author Posted October 21, 2023 Hi razo+r I had Realistic TDC Slew checked, so unchecked it. Will do another test and that should help. Cheers

I could be wrong, but IIRC that ONLY affects the MAV, doesn't apply to other weapons (at least I remember people clamouring for it to apply to other things as well). It may have changed since then too. EDIT: just tested and either I remembered wrong or it has changed. Unchecking Realistic TDC makes it much more reasonable to control the SLAM since it doesn't jump off target nearly as badly and you can get it back on much easier if it does. Thanks for reporting back on this @tmansteve Edited October 21, 2023 by rob10
tmansteve Posted October 21, 2023 Author Posted October 21, 2023 Just an update: thanks guys for all your input. After unchecking Realistic TDC Slew and rebooting, it worked a dream. I have been using the Cursor keys to slew the camera and the small joystick to TDC Depress. I will go back and get better with the little joystick later. Much Appreciated Everyone
