Hello @mbucchia !

Just Id like to report, that Turbo mode causes CTD of DCS 2.9. I had it "on" (FSR on but 100% for sharpening only in DCS 2.8) and 2.9 works only with Turbo mode = off.

This might be a "you thing". I have multiple testers using it without issues.

Also, I see you are on Quest Pro, if you are using Quad-Views-Foveated then you don't want to enable Turbo in OpenXR Toolkit, per instructions.

Unfortunately your report not really providing any usable/actionable information, such as log files or the complete lineup of software you are using.

I have had a few CTDs with 2.9 (5 or 6) but with and without turbo enabled. I’m not sure what causes this for me but I expect this so early after a major beta release.

Yes I know, it was short feedback, because I noticed that after turning off Turbo it was ok, when I had CTD turned on it was always CTD. Of course, this requires more testing (and I agree, from my side too). I will give more information later. I dont use Quad-Views-Foveated btw. Thx!

4090/G2@60HZ/Turbo on. Having no problems with the Toolkit at all. My sharpest image is with 25% DCS sharpening and 60 Toolkit CAS sharpening.

Quest Pro here (OpenXR & Oculus Runtime).

I'm only getting DCS freezes with crashes when taking the headset off and putting it back on while using turbo mode in OpenXR Toolkit.
But this was also the case before 2.9 and is probably caused by a meta bug.

For QVFR's turbo mode, this has been fixed by @mbucchia. I wish some kind of fix was possible for OXR Toolkit.

5900xt/5800x/G2 here. I tried to adjust the Toolkit for 2.9, it only made my (unimpressive) fps do lower. I was able to have pretty consistently 45-50-something fps, now it dips to 30s when near ground. MR doesn't work sor me, do you recommend Turbo mode (not sure it gave good results bit I haven't touched the Toolkit for months), also, should I enable FRS in OpenXR?

sharpening

I use sharpening option in the Nvidia Control Panel, and 0.82 in the DCS. Looks great and clear for my bad eyesight(I use prescription lenses for VR though), finally! I moved from ST, OpenVR, Reshade to OpenXR and MT, DLAA

Here is my Log - was ok at beginning, when I turned ON Turbo mode = freez and CTD at the end (2.9, before in 2.8 no issue like this, I used Turbo mode all the time). I did it few time, always the same result. OXR Toolkit 1.3.2

Guys, activate "hand controllers" in VR tab in DCS and change the "turbo mode" to ON when you are in the Main menu screen of DCS. If you have already loaded a mission it could CTD as well, so try to re-open the game and then use OXRTK to activate Turbo mode again.  "use Hand controllers" is the option you have to activate to make this work. Give it a try and let me know ;).

Edited, it actually works during gameplay.

Without any explanation as to why people need to activate the "hand controllers" setting and what relevance it has, you might as well add "trust me bro" to the end of your post.

Sorry, but my lack of knowledge of software coding doesn´t make me able to explain why it happens, I know there was a bug related to the new implementation of OpenXR hand controllers in DCS that when being deactivated were causing a crash when used at the same time of Quad Views Foveated.  The way to avoid it was by activating the controllers in the VR tab, then a fix was released and now it works perfectly without that option being active.

The day after I kept testing without using QVF and realized that every time I wanted to activate Turbo mode during gameplay DCS was crashing,  Guess what, I turned off the hand controllers after that fix. So I turned it on again and voila! I could switch on Turbo mode without a CTD in the main menu, but not during gameplay. At least that´s something. This could be related or just a coincidence in any case it works for me, and I don´t think it could be harmful at all to try on your side.

I don´t think many people explain here the insights of their advice, people like me try different things and sometimes they work without us knowing exactly why.  So it´s up to you to "trust me bro" or not.

In any case, it took you longer to write your constructive answer than the time it would take to try the workaround that I proposed. It´s just ticking a box, not jumping from a bridge...

Hi.

I had occasional flickers/flashing with 2.9 until I disabled the Toolkit. Also seems my frametimes went down a bit too.

I had only Foved Rendering and the fps-counter on.

At first I tried to change other settings like clouds, shadows, etc and also went to general low settings, but nothing changed; still had the occasional white flashes. Only disabling the Toolkit did help. And the problem has not come back yet. Will keep it disabled.

Was this happening in the Persian Gulf map by any chance? Just read about a bug related with that map that is quite similar.

Sorry for replying so late. Did not see your post earlier.

I had this problem on every map I tried. Was not related to PG only.

Since I removed the OTK, the problem is gone. Still have to say, that this might only be a few hours, since I dont have too much time for DCS lately.

Try to enable the safe mode and follow what it says to delete all settings and start again with OXRTK and see what happens. Anyway since I saw your post, I managed to see a lot more people reporting things like this and it is being looked at.  If you are able to reproduce it maybe it would be worth reporting on OXRTK discord.  I could do it for you if I´m able to reproduce it. null

I had to disable OTK 1.3.2 on my new PC with a fresh DCS install. MT enabled, 4090, 13700. Native OpenXR. Reverb G2

It caused 1-3 second stutters occasionally and CTDs.

I just started my DCS VR journey and Turbo mode is one thing from the Tool Kit that I cannot seem to get working. When I activate it, I just get a CTD.

So looks like me:

However what its strange now it works again, no issue. The last OB version. I use CAS option (for sharpness) now. This is one thing I changed (before I was using FSR), maybe try it too.

Just found out: Unfortunately OpenXR Toolkit is no longer supported as of last week. And it looks like its pretty time consuming to maintain. So we should ask ED to provide at least some of the features like foveated rendering and turbo mode.
