draconus Posted October 30, 2023 Posted October 30, 2023 Static objects already have DM. You can put a "hole" in the ground too (or damage runway) but why fully destructible terrain? What are you trying to achieve? Win10 i7-10700KF 32GB RTX4070S Quest 3 T16000M VPC CDT-VMAX TFRP FC3 F-14A/B F-15E CA SC NTTR PG Syria
Hiob Posted October 30, 2023 Posted October 30, 2023 He's planning to get some excavation work done..... I think the damage model of terrain (I'm thinking of Railtracks, Bridges, Dams and such, not about lumps of dirt) is a little bit inconsistent across maps. Same goes for POIs. Some have a damage model, some don't. 1 "Muß ich denn jedes Mal, wenn ich sauge oder saugblase den Schlauchstecker in die Schlauchnut schieben?"

It isn't something high on my list of priorities but it would be quite nice to see. 1 minute ago, Hiob said: He's planning to get some excavation work done..... Ironically yes - if such a system were to be supported, that would allow for things like trenches as well as to level terrain for FOBs and FARPs. 2 Modules I own: F-14A/B, F-4E, Mi-24P, AJS 37, AV-8B N/A, F-5E-3, MiG-21bis, F-16CM, F/A-18C, Supercarrier, Mi-8MTV2, UH-1H, Mirage 2000C, FC3, MiG-15bis, Ka-50, A-10C (+ A-10C II), P-47D, P-51D, C-101, Yak-52, WWII Assets, CA, NS430, Hawk. Hiob Posted October 30, 2023 Posted October 30, 2023 I would love to see destroyable dams. But that probably won't happen anytime soon. 1 "Muß ich denn jedes Mal, wenn ich sauge oder saugblase den Schlauchstecker in die Schlauchnut schieben?"

I would absolutely love a full fleshed physics engine, including terrain destruction model, particle physics and so on and so forth. Imagine you would be able to light up (and douse) forrest fires, cause avalanches or dam breaches would flush enemy fortifications. Hurray for any new feature, but I'm mostly content with what we have. 1 "Muß ich denn jedes Mal, wenn ich sauge oder saugblase den Schlauchstecker in die Schlauchnut schieben?"

Yeah, that is certainly in "won't happen anytime soon" park while things like: - one damage model available for each dam with flowing water animation, - second stage would be changing the river model down the dam as alternative terrain part after like a day or three past the destroying, effectively disabling most units in the affected area (I could see that used in DC or as ME option for a map), can happen way easier and faster, which is far from full fidelity but already brings you game feature you can play with. I would take it and be happy! 1 "Muß ich denn jedes Mal, wenn ich sauge oder saugblase den Schlauchstecker in die Schlauchnut schieben?"
diveplane Posted November 8, 2023 Posted November 8, 2023 i would also love to see a little more detail in the terrain damage and how armor drives on it ,tracks in muddy conditions, snow.. 2 https://www.youtube.com/user/diveplane11 DCS Audio Modding.
