Crashes in multiplayer since 2.9 update

Hello, I am having constant crashes in multiplayer on more populated servers. In 2.8 everything worked, I havent changed my specification.

My specs:

Ryzen 3100

64GB dd4 ram

Radeon RX 6600

I am attaching dcs log.

I have fully reinstalled dcs at this point, I was trying with srs/without srs, with A4 Skyhawk mod or without. It's the same so I assume something is wrong with dcs itself.

Please take a look at log maybe some1 more familiar with that can figure out the solution. My last crash was caused by opening maverick display in FA18.

hello. do you have any other mods active? A-4 should be ok on the latest beta. you are one version back of the latest beta DCS. but that may not be problem wither. make sure windows is up to date and try update your video drivers. the crash calls out

2.9 has brought some multiplayer problems. I fly online 80% of my time in DCS . And lately it's been frustrating.

With Server crashes and the lag and stuttering that is constant in multiplayer. 2.9 . I'm sure things will start to work for Christmas. Lol 🤣

dcs.log-20231125-101655.zip Hello @Flappie

Its file from yesterday, I am not sure if there was a crash.

I was flying today and no crash but huge issues with rubberbanding. I coudn't AAR because tanker was all over my screen jumping left and right. It's the same for formation flights. It's really weird because some squadron mates are affected and some are not, its smooth for them...

I have tested my internet connection, I don't have packet loss, pings are acceptable (~20-30 ms to some internet pages)

Zips are only generated by DCS when there is a crash. 😉

It looks like a GPU crash:

Try this:

  1. Use DDU to uninstall your GPU driver.
  2. Reboot your PC, then install a fresh AMD GPU driver.

Do not wish to hijack the thread but i have been having sooo many crashes as well since 2.9

3 crashes just for today.

hello. you have nearly 100 "out of memory" errors. i see you have 16 GB of physical RAM. try setting your pagefile to static on a fast SSD with plenty of space. you can also lower your setting in DCS to lower memory consumption.

not trying to lecture you. it is always best to start your own thread. it helps keep all the issues in order.

Hello @Flappie @silverdevil thank you, after updating the graphic driver  dcs no longer crashes.

Could you be so kind and suggest solution (if its known) to rubberbanding in dcs 2.9 in multiplayer? Its very hard to fly in formation or tank in air while planes jink up and down... Is ED aware of this problem?

Thanks for your feedback.

Regarding rubberbanding, it can happen for various reasons. I had rubberbanding in DCS MP for years until I understood I needed to quit using WiFi. The day I bought a wire, rubberbanding stopped for me.

Some questions:

  1. Is your PC connected by WiFi or wire?
  2. Are your MP friends also suffering from rubberbanding?
  3. Does the issue appear on any server you try?

My PC is connected by WIFI, it was the same in 2.8.

My speed can be found here:

Connection is also stable, no packet loss.

Rubberbanding happens only in DCS, I can play Dota or Counter strike without any issues. It started to happen in 2.9 update so I don't really think WIFI is the issue here...

Some of my friends do experience rubberbanding. What's strange it happens more on servers in Europe with lower latency. I can fly on Hoggit in US and rubberbanding is less visible (because I have like 120 ms ping to US server)

I understand you think it's caused by DCS 2.9. However, I've not seen many users claiming 2.9 is a source of rubberbanding. Most complains about 2.9 are stutter in MP, the spotting dot, and the global microfreeze issues that is even seen in the main menu.

When I had my rubberbanding issues, my ping was very good and I had no packet loss. The problem for me was jitter. Try this test and see how much jitter you have (I have 1.95 ms).

I have also recorded video how it looks from my perspective. You can skip most of the video, very visual skips happen at 8:04 and 8:22, 8:32. The closer i get to the tanker the worse it gets.

Wow, that one is strange. If I'm not mistaken, it happens after you had a "wrong password" message while trying to join a server.

I have broadband full Fibre in North Wales UK with 70mbps from the provider, As my flight room is the other end of the bungalow...I used the system through the mains wiring of the house.
Results were a measley 20mbps at the PC. DCS updates were awful at 6hrs 🙂

I went and bought a 30 metre Cat8 cable ...and now get 73mbps at the PC....major difference.

Just my tuppence worth to constantly improving the flying fun
