117 Posted November 29, 2023 Posted November 29, 2023 I've tried various things, but the clouds in the distance are blurred and the screen is blurry. This problem has appeared since 2.9 Is there any way to find out?
razo+r Posted November 29, 2023 Posted November 29, 2023 Post your graphics setting, and perhaps also a picture of your issue.
117 Posted November 29, 2023 Author Posted November 29, 2023 (edited) The image showing B1B is a non-problematic image. Edited November 29, 2023 by 117
draconus Posted December 5, 2023 Posted December 5, 2023 You use DLSS in Performance setting which is basically for high fps at the cost of quality. Try DLSS Quality setting or don't use upscaling at all in FullHD. Win10 i7-10700KF 32GB RTX4070S Quest 3 T16000M VPC CDT-VMAX TFRP FC3 F-14A/B F-15E CA SC NTTR PG Syria
Hiob Posted December 5, 2023 Posted December 5, 2023 May I ask what your system specs are? If you have a DLSS capable GPU, you shouldn't need DLSS with 1080p. "Muß ich denn jedes Mal, wenn ich sauge oder saugblase den Schlauchstecker in die Schlauchnut schieben?"
117 Posted December 6, 2023 Author Posted December 6, 2023 (edited) I tried turning DLSS off, but it works fine, but the clouds in the distance are still a little blurry. GPU RTX4070TI Edited December 6, 2023 by 117

GPU RTX4070TI OK, now apply some Anti Aliasing - either DLAA or MSAAx4 and set Clouds to Ultra. Win10 i7-10700KF 32GB RTX4070S Quest 3 T16000M VPC CDT-VMAX TFRP FC3 F-14A/B F-15E CA SC NTTR PG Syria
Hiob Posted December 6, 2023 Posted December 6, 2023 If you need performance head room, I would suggest setting water to medium and SSLR and SSAO to off. Little impact on visual fidelity. And SSS has been reported to make problems occasionally. I don't know if that affects clouds, but you may try to turn it off. 117 Posted December 7, 2023 Author Posted December 7, 2023 I've tried everything, but the clouds in the distance are still a little blurry. It gets worse when you set MSAA×4 Is this something for my system?

Again, show the screenshot and current settings. Set Nvidia control panel to default if you've made changes there or just show the settings. You can also save a short track so we can check the exact same scene on our PCs. 117 Posted December 7, 2023 Author Posted December 7, 2023 Should I return the 3D settings of the Nvidia control panel to default? Could you try a short track? test.miz
Czar66 Posted December 7, 2023 Posted December 7, 2023 (edited) Please, ONLY use sharpening if you're using DLAA or an upscaling method (FSR. DLSS etc...) Set sharpening to 0 and try again. Edit Sharpening does not always equal better visibility of objects, but can introduce unwanted noise. At dusk and dawn, the distant clouds do have a poor appearance as of now, regardless. It is an ongoing improvement, I would guess. See if the other problems at daylight has been solved. Edited December 7, 2023 by Czar66

Also there is some form of checkerboard pattern looking down at the water. Perhaps some other form of sharpness is being applied. To add: -Disable reshade if you're using it. Sometimes it has sharpening filters that can mess with the clouds and shaders. -Reset control panel settings to default. -Delete the folders: FXO and Metashaders2 from your DCS saved games directory at 'Root OS storage:\Users\>user<\Saved Games\DCS.openbeta'. If you're using stable, it is just 'DCS' instead of 'DCS.openbeta'. -Set gamma no more than 2.2. Edited December 7, 2023 by Czar66

Clouds are kind of lower resolution objects and they didn't fix it or they keep it for performance reasons. captain_dalan Posted July 12, 2024 Posted July 12, 2024 Sorry for the necro, but i've had this problem for a long time now, and it seems that at times it may be related to older content, such as, missions i have created and set weather to a couple of years ago, are more likely to have jagged/filled with artifacts clouds in the distance. Didn't investigate more. You have to resave the old missions with new clouds presets. Win10 i7-10700KF 32GB RTX4070S Quest 3 T16000M VPC CDT-VMAX TFRP FC3 F-14A/B F-15E CA SC NTTR PG Syria

It was bothering a lot, but this action solved it. It Would be good if ED did the updated missions on the core because if you do a repair, newly saved stock missions get replaced by the older ones. 1 1
