Hi Folks,

Quick question if I may.  When I get a notification to say "somebody reacted to post" (heart or thanks) in a DCS forum thread topic, how can I tell who that person is that has reacted to my post?

Am I missing something, or am I not supposed to know who that somebody is?

Is there a box to tick somewhere or have folks chosen to be anonymous?

Am I anonymous too if I react to a post with a heart or a thanks?

Thanks.

Happy landings,

Talisman

Only moderators and admins can see who reacted. Your reactions will also be anonymous for other forum members.

When i get "somebody reacted to post" notification there is never a new post (or i must have been inactive for a long time). This sort of notification can also show up on posts that are more then a few days old. Real notifications always show the name of the poster or when there are more posters in a fast sequence, i get posted by X, Y , Z and a few others.
The "somebody reacted to a post" for me is a bug in the forum.

Win11 Pro 64-bit, Ryzen 5800X3D, Corsair H115i, Gigabyte X570S UD, EVGA 3080Ti XC3 Ultra 12GB, 64 GB DDR4 G.Skill 3600. Monitors: LG 27GL850-B27 2560x1440 + Samsung SyncMaster 2443 1920x1200, HOTAS: Warthog with Virpil WarBRD base, MFG Crosswind pedals, TrackIR4, Rift-S, Elgato Streamdeck XL.

Personal Wish List: A6 Intruder, Vietnam theater, decent ATC module, better VR performance!

It's not a bug. Notifications for reactions (like or thanks) are always anonymous for normal forum members. Notifications for thread posts are a different thing.

It's set like i want already long time ago.

Didn't think about likes and thanks as being a notification

in this case, they most definitely are. they are accessible by the "notifications" icon.

I know about the icon but i never thought about the "somebody reacted to" as it being a like or thanks. If it's a written post then it's always with a name of the poster.
Not that i care about likes and thanks anyway.

when you see those messages (green circle), you can click and it goes right to the post that was liked or thanked.

each thread can use the slider in lower left "follow topic". that is more granular. but yeah if you do not care just disable all of it and stick with the sim.

Sorry to raise this after so long but I'm curious about the reasoning behind keeping positive reactions anonymous since positive are the only reactions available. I could understand if there was options for negative reactions such as "thumbs down". What's the harm in seeing who "likes" your post?

None for you but can still trigger those of opposing views.
