Is Laser Ranging Broken ?

Recommended Posts

Just tried laser spotting targets (tanks, fighters on ground) for the JDAMs from about 10nm / 15000 ft. With laser on and targets perfectly at crosshair center and then designate followed by data transfer to JDAMs, all hits were a little beyond each target, as if the laser painted BEHIND the objects rather than on them. Thought laser ranging and spotting used to be spot-on in the past? Is it broken now?

Doesn't the F-15E have the stone knives and bears skins of TPods?

Points if you get the reference. :smoke:

Some of the planes, but all of the maps!

DCS has a Max Lasing Range of 14 km or 8,2 nm i think it was. You See that your Laser gives you returns when the Slant Range is Displayed in ft instead nm.

No it does not. It was changed a while ago, it's longer now

It's about 15nm.

It wasn't reflected in the F-15E TGP rengefinding return, I don't know if it was fixed now.

I have heard on the RAZBAM discord that using the laser for ranging was actually effective out just past 14 nm slant range, but I have not been able to confirm the laser for spotting and guidance is actually effective out past 8 nm.  Has anyone heard this or confirmed this?

It works up to 15nm, I tested it in the patch before this one.

Guiding a bomb apparently works beyond the old setting, but the ranging number on the MPD is still relegated to the 8. Whatever range.
