Hi everyone, I have a MB with Proc Ryzen 5800X3D and now I have 16 Gb G.Skill Trident 3600Mhz 16CL... I would like to upgrade with one of these options:

1) 32 GB 3600 CL14

2) 64GB 3600 CL16

3) G.Skill Trident or G.Skill Ripjaws (or other manufacturer)?

I know that the 5800X3D does not fully exploit the RAM above 3600Mhz (correct?) and therefore I will not go further (if confirmed).

So... better 64 Gb CL16 or aim for 32 CL14 to have something more?

Price is not a problem...

Obviously if you have other advice, even better!

Thank you all!!!!

One (among other) advantages that the 5800X3D has is that it's not as picky with memory timings as the non-X3D chips are (latency less of an issue). Even 3600 CL18 is fine.

That said, the 3600 CL16 (16-16-16-36) kits (excelent Samsung B-die) are well recommended for AM4 Ryzen 5000 series, a family which the 5800X3D obviously belongs to.
Also, 4 sticks of RAM on AM4 Ryzen 5000 series is up to 10% better performance, versus 2 sticks.
So, for a 64GB total, the 4x 16GB kits are usually a better choice than 2x 32GB ones, for AM4 Ryzen 5000 series (different story on newer AM5 Ryzen 7000 series).

The Gskill 3600 C16 kits, be it the TridentZ, or RipjawsV, or FlareX are really good.
For example - 64GB (4x16GB) DDR4 3600 CL16 (16-16-16-36) 1.35V Gskill Trident Z RGB  F4-3600C16Q-64GTZR

You can try, if you like overclocking, the kit that I use, 3200 14-14-14-34 and set it to 1.48v and go 3600-14-14-14-34 🙂

Either way, I would only pick a B-Die module 3200 or faster, CL16 or lower.

3600 @ CL 16 is the best bang for the buck and what AMD recommends for best performance on a Zen 3 Ryzen. That is what I have for my 5800x3d setup.

The CPU cannot make optimum use of RAM over 3733 for technical reasons and the performance improvement of Cas 14 over 16 is marginal and not worth the extra cost IMHO.

I ran a 5800x3d with a G.Skill 3200mhz C14 kit and I tried a 3600Mhz C16 kit. The difference in DCS and benchmarking was not in reality noticeable.

I dont think it matters too much

If you want 64gb one thing to consider is using a program like Primocache. I used it create a ramdisk cache of your SSD(s). I find it makes a noticeable difference in performance loading commonly used programs

in gaming CL14 to CL16 wont be visible.. in benchmarks... marginal.

Thanks everyone for the advice... I purchased 32 GB with the same characteristics as the ones I have (2x8 GB), same CL and model... the same in all values!
I hope they can go together so I don't waste my 16 GB and in the end I have 48 GB... do you think it will be fine???
