Ian Boys UK Posted February 11, 2024 Posted February 11, 2024 Single player Mirage, no other a/c or assets - have found that the fps drops from 100 to 24 suddenly when passing the 900 foot radar altitude boundary. Have a feeling that it's to do with low alt shadow generation? I don't know. But it is a hard, fast drop.
Biggus Posted February 23, 2024 Posted February 23, 2024 (edited) Tested today following the patch. No matter what I did before, I suffered that brutal frame drop. I've just had a few minutes to test, but I've observed a serious improvement with low terrain textures. High terrain textures still leads to that immediate massive frame drop below 900ft though. Time will tell but I'm feeling quite positive about the progress being made. Edit: Built up areas still suffer quite drastic frame rate drops. In one instance, I was able to restore performance by alt-tabbing as I flew over Rio Grande. But at other times it did not help. This patch is definitely a step in the right direction overall. Biggus Posted July 12, 2024 Posted July 12, 2024 New update is absolutely beautiful but this is still an issue for me. I can mitigate it by reducing forest details to the very lowest setting (0.1), but anything above that and the drastic frame reduction becomes evident again. 2
Spetz Posted January 13 Posted January 13 This has been an issue since day 1 release and never even addressed or acknowledged by the developers despite multiple reports. I’ve uninstalled it and won’t bother with it again. Too bad, map has potential. 2

I’ve just raised this issue with ED and explained how the developers are not even acknowledging a problem, I’ve been assured that performance issues are being addressed and that the SA map is in early access. I’m in a position similar to you I’m not using the map at all because I only use VR so it’s been €49 or €59 for very limited use but I hope they begin to consider VR users that have purchased this map and try and get some kind of fix as a priority so at least we can use it. Biggus Posted January 13 Posted January 13 It's not even just VR users. I'm flatscreen and it renders the map largely unusable to me.

Ah ok I didn’t realise this so is the low altitude fps drop present for non VR as well then? TOViper Posted 40 minutes ago Posted 40 minutes ago (edited) I did 2 tests today, and the result is the following: When flying in 20 ft AGL, and having Clutter & Grass ON, the fps value is ~120. When flying in 20 ft AGL, and having Clutter & Grass OFF, the fps value is ~170. When transitioning from 0 ft to 1200 ft, and having Clutter & Grass ON, the fps value changes more or less constantly from ~120 to ~180 (capped/limited by DCS), but I cannot see that "step function" anymore. I cannot reproduce that magic 900 feet bug, despite low altitudes is still a frame killer. I did two videos, which are currently uploading to YT, so you can see what was going on there. I did my last tests months ago, and with another setup (now RTX 3080 instead of GTX 1080). I am wondering that Nineline didn't find any informaton in the bug tracker which marks that problem as "solved" or "ready for testing" or similar. Did it resolve by its own?
