Hi Guys

Any help out there!?!?!?

Thanks to all

I had the same problem and nothing helps like reinstalling modman, deleting all mods from addons_fc folder but...

Try to empty (move to another folder or sth like that) Screenshot, Temp folders (I mean files in these folders) where data is collecting. In my case, these folders was the reason why modman hangs up at checking indexes... Don't know it can help but You should try this.

I'm a bit disappointed with the new Modman, it's a pain in the a** to have to reload every mod again when a newer version is produced, unlike the old style where it just went straight over the old version and updated

Remember the 346 Fire Fighters, Medics & Police who died on 9-11.......

Selective memory is a wonderful thing, especially when certain posts simply disappear into the ether never to be seen again, unless I have a copy of the original post copied and pasted into word documents and saved .... just in case :)

Am I an abusive idiot ?

you don't have at all to uninstall (or to reload) mod in order to upgrade to a new version...

where did you read that ????

sound like pretty clear (in setup installer):

Updating your ModMan version older than 7.0.0.1

------------------------------------------------------------------------------

1- Uninstall ALL your addons

2- Uninstall older ModMan version (older than 7.0.0.1)

3- Run this setup to install ModMan version %ProductVer%

Updating your ModMan version 7.0.0.1 or newer

----------------------------------------------------------------------------

1- Just run this setup to install ModMan %ProductVer%

there was several release since 7.0.0.1 version and NO ONE required to uninstall/reload mod....

Cant remember now but I tried it when it started to go to Series 7 and it didnt do a straight over copy for some reason, so I've been doing it the way I mentioned in above posting, trying the new version now.

Skypat,

My sincere apologies, I have just downloaded the new version 7.1.1.0 and it's working perfectly. Again my apologies

Anyone ever resolve this with Modman?

I have the same problem when I tried to install Modman 7.1.1.0 from Modman 6. Followed instructions a=but hangs as the 1st poster here.

Talon, since you use ModMan 6 the "update" doesn't work 4 U. Always uninstall any modman older than 7.0.0.1.

and yeah, cleaning up your Screenshot and Temp folder helps in ModMan startup. But have in mind taht some of the textures you installed thru ModMan are to be found in Temp Textures so make sure you don't delete these...

Mine is still messed up. I have emptied my screenshots folder, temp folder and even moved the files from the temptextures folder to a desktop folder, but Modman 7.1.1.0 still hangs on me at the checking FID message. I left it running last night for over 1 hr, but it never came back.

I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling many times. Clearing the registry of everything "Modman" and then reinstalling. I even tried reinstalling the 6.3.0.1 version but it now does the same thing the latest install wants to do.

Not sure what else to do here, so if someone has information on how to fix this please post it.

The trouble may be in the fact you cleaned TempTextures folder and all the files ModMan placed in that folder. Now it sees those files (mods) as installed but cannot locate 'em in the TempTextures.

Perhaps the only way to get it working now is to reinstall FC completely!

Sad but true!

Vekkinho,

I thought of that too, mind that I first tried with those files in place. But then I did not delete those files but just moved them. I tried putting them back also and still nothing. So I tried with the files in place, without them and with them put back to no avail.

I wish they would fix Modman to prevent this from happening. Now I remember why I hesitated for so long upgrading beyond 6.3.0.1

Talon, Have you cleared the regedit files as well ???

Soloution

After a complete uninstallation via the Add/Remove programs tab, apart from clearing the registry via 'regedit' you also need to manually delete your Ubisoft Folder from your Programs directory as well as your Modman Folder from your HDD Directory. There are leftover folders after an uninstall that explains the issue you are experiencing.

To clear the registry, via the start menu, hit run and type 'regedit'. Hit OK and navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER/SOFTWARE and find the Eagle Dynamics entry. Highlight and delete.

Do the same for HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SOFTWARE and the Ubisoft entry. Highlight and delete.

Reboot.

BrumTx,

Yes, I had done the regedit clearing as well as the deleting of the left-over folders. What I have not done is a complete uninstall of LockOn/ Flaming Cliffs yet or resintall it.

I am trying to avoid having to do this, but it looks like it might be the shortest route. This will be the last time I update Modman on my computer unless absolutely required.

You need to remove LO/ FC before doing the regedit. The current Modman V7 works perfectly now

Tried everything you suggested; no results...

:helpsmilie:

It was working before I had to reinstall the game because of Ruggbutt's terrain pack and the Merzifon mod (or something like that). The reason was: those MODs don't have an uninstaller! As I'm working on a video depicting a Mirage 2000-5F demonstration on Oktyabrskoye (which is, by the way, one of the best airfields for airshows in the game), and I was trying to make HUD footage and other angles, to make a 4-screen video. But the track was made BEFORE I installed the MODs, and these add trees. You can imagine how 'happy' I was when I saw my precious Mirage going through some trees when going around for a low-speed pass .

I really really hope they find a work around for this bug, as this is the SECOND time it happens to me.

It started working again for some reason on the first time (I don't know what the hell I did, it was weeks after I gave up. One day I saw the icon and decided to see. It was working!). Now I'm really pissed-off because of this issue...

Talon, did you managed to make your ModMan work again?

Crap, I'm in this box now. ModMan freeze with this message:

Task processing - please wait ...

Please wait, Mod Manager need to check its files index (FID).

I'm running ModMan 7.3

Well guys I don't have your problem but I do have this error

error loading library

please check whether powerbuilder accessibility library can

be located in the path.

I have had the hdd reformated and a complete reinstall of verion 1.02 and version1.12b, then FC2. both are in my c:\, under c:\lockon flaming cliffs 2 and c:\modman. I have tried modman 7.2 and 7.3, still same problem and can't seem to find any answers on the internet other than it has been a problem in the past but no fix has been mentioned. Left message for skypat but no answer. So if someone has an idea on this one as well, I would appreciate it.

Solved my problem. It was related to my "Mount Point" disk of Movies folder in the SIM directory. I guess ModMan read all folders of FC2 including Movies folder when starting up. Is that really nessesary? ;)
