DCS 2.9.3.51704 crashes as soon as game is loaded

Hi, I am having issues with my DCS. It was working, but the displays in the cockpit in vr were blurry, I had not played dcs since December last year due to being very busy.  I had settings on maximum and this did not resolve the issue. I was prompted to delete the contents of the C:\Users\james\Saved Games\DCS.openbeta\fxo and C:\Users\james\Saved Games\DCS.openbeta\metashaders2 folders. After doing this the game crashes after loading any mission or connecting to any server (Mission Load Done).

I have repaired dcs, this did not work. I fully uninstalled and reinstalled my oculus software, nvidia game ready driver and DCS itself. I do not have any issues with any other games, flatscreen or VR. My PC is running the latest version of Windows 11 and all drivers. It is not overclocked. I have attached the full log and dxdiag report to aid anyone who can assist me. It crashes in both flatscreen and VR modes.

I have sunk a lot of money into DCS, it is a great game and I have enjoyed it, I am grateful for help.

I have reinstalled Windows 11 using the media creation tool and wiping the drive. I also reinstalled dcs. Issue persists. I have attached a new dxidiag log and dcs log. Perhaps it is an issue with DCS itself? My PC is stable and not overclocked and the ram is tested good.

Using an Oculus headset? If you are using the Oculus link and the app on the PC is v63, DCS crashes when entering VR space. If you have the PTC enabled (public test channel) on the PC Oculus app, disable it. You might be lucky and revert to v62. If not, a workaround is to switch to SteamVR or use the Virtual Desktop app - both of which use their own runtime to connect to Oculus headsets instead of the Oculus runtime library.

ED is aware of the bug that Meta has introduced and are investigating.

v63 general release went live on Tuesday 5th March so I am expecting more people to come forward with this craash.

Hi Slughead, oculus link app is on v62, and I am not using dcs with vr at the moment as it is crashing in flatscreen mode. I deleted %LOCALAPPDATA%\TEMP\DCS and that caused it to output a log and crash and dump files. The game only did this once. It appears to be an error with the dcs lua runtime.

hello. have you tried to rename Saved Games\DCS folder to .BAK? you may need to copy your input files.

Yes it is factory overclocked (Ventus 3x)

I have found a temporary solution.

DCS 2.9.3.51704 and GeForce Game Ready Driver 551.76 appear to not be compatible.

I used DDU and installed GeForce Game Ready Driver 546.33 and it is working every time.

Well looks like Oculus pushed v63 to the public so I believe I'm running into this issue on DCS 2.9.3.51704.  On Nvidia driver 545.92. 

Attempted driver 546.33 from the above poster, but did not have any effect.  Flat screen version of DCS loads, but not VR version.

This will be the Meta software update and therefore needs a compatability fix from ED since Meta don't give you a rollback option. The only workaround I am aware of is to use Virtual Desktop

Thanks @Reflected, what is your system configuration

Flatscreen and vr aren't working anymore. For some reason, after I downgraded the driver, it opened fine a few times and now I'm back to the ACCESS_VIOLATION crap.

There's a guy in my DCS group who is having the exact same issue (crashing as soon as it is loading) and he has the same cpu and a 4080.

Just to join in on this post, I've been having the same Issues - I am not on the meta PTC so cannot roll back and the version is now on the 63.0.

I was able to do some troubleshooting and attempted the DCS suggested method of renaming my saved game folder to "Temp". This appeared to have worked (by loading 2D mode) and after selecting to activate VR mode in the VR settings the game attempted restarting but went back to the constant 'crash' at start up.

Ah Dude that sucks, looks like a different issue to mine. My game won't even fully load into the menu. Hopefully a patch will come out soon to resolve these!

I have solved it, downloading the latest Visual C++ redistributables and running the repair function fixed it. No clue why but I am happy. The VR blurryness issue is also gone.
