AvgeekJoe Posted March 25, 2024 Posted March 25, 2024 (edited) I just want to take a moment and thank the Eagle Dynamics team for taking on the MiG-29. I know you get a lot of complainers, but I have to say the sheer joy I've had taking out the FC3 MiG-29 out to simulate, er, recent Eastern European events is immense. There's something to be said about flying out with AA-11s plus rockets plus AGM-88s from a mod strapped out to take on a SAM site or FABs to conduct a relatively precise CCIP mission to the occasional dogfight is a thrill. Then there's having to take off at a certain speed and within a certain angle to protect the afterburners and the tires. Or having to handle the FC3 MiG-29 without a damper because of battle damage - again, I like taking the MiG-29 down low. Especially with a precise 30mm cannon! I've put my requests in the Wish List to make the FC3 MiG-29 better. But I would hope you keep the MiG-29 as agile and flexible. Oh and understand... one way or another, there will be HARMs put on the new MiG-29A. Hope others will add their thanks below please... Edited March 25, 2024 by AvgeekJoe 4 1

westr Posted April 15, 2024 Posted April 15, 2024 Feel like this was a necessary step for ED with so many 4gen western fighters in DCS world now, and I have to say I’m really looking forward to getting a proper Mig29 I’ve wanted this to happen for a long time. It’s going to be a really interesting airplane. Best to forget about it for now and just wait until date of release will be announced in the future. It is way too early to get hyped about it. F-4 appeared in 4 Above and beyond videos and Chinook in 2 already...and probably will appear in further 1- 2 before we can fly it. I am not criticizing. That`s just the way it is. I asked myself same question years ago. Then.... just stopped asking, hehe. Maybe just to let us know what planes are being worked on so players have general idea what long term plans are. Five years ago I got hyped about Mig 23. Learned the lesson. It`s just better to focus on what is available here and now without trying to see beyond the horizon too much and get frustrated in process. Edited April 18, 2024 by Rainbowgirl 4

They actually answered that when they made that policy change (although that mostly concerned 3rd parties). The reason is to let developers know what's in the works. It would suck very much for a prospective 3rd party dev to spend hours coming up with something they can show ED as part of their proposal, only to be told "sorry, we're working on that already". In the end, it works much better if they announce a project early. The bottom line is, long term plans are long term. I'm fine with that approach, especially as an SP player, I generally don't buy (unless there's a good preorder deal) until there's a campaign available, anyway. 3

Would love if they can add the AGM-88 and maybe pre-programmed JDAMs now that they seem to have been retrofitted in Ukraine! 1
