CacooLR07 Posted April 8, 2024 Posted April 8, 2024 Hello, I use DCS MT with a Varjo aero headset since the update of DCS world ,the game crashes systematically when I lift my headset to see the keyboard. I tried to uninstall the quad view without success. I've also completely reinstalled DCS world but nothing works. any ideas? Thanks
speed-of-heat Posted April 8, 2024 Posted April 8, 2024 Try the Varjo specific version of quad views see if that helps https://github.com/mbucchia/Varjo-Foveated SYSTEM SPECS: Hardware AMD 9800X3D, 64Gb RAM, 4090 FE, Virpil T50CM3 Throttle, WinWIng Orion 2 & F-16EX + MFG Crosswinds V2, Varjo Aero SOFTWARE: Microsoft Windows 11, VoiceAttack & VAICOM PRO YOUTUBE CHANNEL: @speed-of-heat

Leafcutter1008 Posted April 11, 2024 Posted April 11, 2024 Hello guys, I have similar problems - good to know I'm not alone. (DCS standalone without steam via openXR and mbucchia/Varjo-Foveated without openXR Toolkit) Whenever I take the headset off in flight or even just touch it and move something, it immediately disconnects and Varjo Base restarts - sometimes several times in a row. In my opinion, this only happened after the current Varjo Base update at the beginning of April. Before this update everything was running relatively smoothly. Can you confirm that? Before yesterday's DCS update (April 10, 2024), it was at least the case that after Varjo Base was restarted, the headset was found again and Varjo Base connected again to the running DCS game - BUT without the headset's internal sound. The sound then no longer came through the headphones but rather through the PC speakers. After yesterday's DCS update (April 10, 2024) even that is no longer possible. When I take off the headset, DCS crashes immediately withe the disconnection of the headset. Absolutely annoying and unplayable. I'll try to install the old Varjo Base version, see if that helps and will report the outcome here. Did any of you find a solution?
speed-of-heat Posted April 11, 2024 Posted April 11, 2024 The other thing to check is that the cable connection is fully in... Try removing it and reseating it in the headset 1 SYSTEM SPECS: Hardware AMD 9800X3D, 64Gb RAM, 4090 FE, Virpil T50CM3 Throttle, WinWIng Orion 2 & F-16EX + MFG Crosswinds V2, Varjo Aero SOFTWARE: Microsoft Windows 11, VoiceAttack & VAICOM PRO YOUTUBE CHANNEL: @speed-of-heat
Leafcutter1008 Posted April 11, 2024 Posted April 11, 2024 So, I deinstalled Varjo Base and tried several older Versions but everything stays the same. Then I noticed that there is a new version with several bug fixes that has been released today on the Varjo website. I installed it but the problems stay the same. And sure have I checked the cables plugged out the headset, restartet my system not only once... When I take off the headset disconnects and Varjo Base restarts EVERY fu***g time sometimes 3 or 4 times after another. Foveated rendering also doesn´t work from time to time. There is always the hint that the are too many reflections from the headset - I never had this before and this sh*t all happens when I not even have started DCS. This is soooo annoying. Even Steam VR doesn´t work.
The_Nephilim Posted April 12, 2024 Posted April 12, 2024 is there a sensor inside the varjo to detect when you take it off put a sticker over it to make it think you are there.. or chabnge that setting in the software if possible to not auto shut off when removing the headset.. slughead Posted April 13, 2024 Posted April 13, 2024 Does this only happen with DCS? Can you test it with other VR games? Slugmouse: a finger-mounted mouse button emulator for hand-tracked VR cockpit clicking. Available now! Slugmouse Demonstration Video

Even Steam VR doesn´t work. Hi, I had the same problem with re-installing an older version of VB. VB leaves behind a few files when you un-install it that upsets the roll backed version of VB. These have to be manually removed before installing an older version of VB. I used an app called "Everything" as recommended by an Aero user on Discord to find them and it worked well.
P3CFE Posted April 21, 2024 Posted April 21, 2024 Yep..same irritating problem here at the moment. I tried to fool the headset by putting a cloth in it when i'm not wearing it, that seems to work.... partially. DCS doesn't crash if i do that but, sometimes..not allways.. i loose the functions of the buttons on the headset, and i'm not sure if eye tracking is working than. worth a try...maybe ?
P3CFE Posted April 22, 2024 Posted April 22, 2024 Oke I think i may have found a solution for the problem. In "Varjo Base" i had only OpenXr Activated in the 'Compatibility" section when i had the problem of DCS crashing when i took af the headset. When i also activated OpenVR the problem was gone,So:.. with both OpenXr and Open VR Activated i can take off the headset and even restart it while in DCS and continue the flight Hope you can solve this in the same way. Leafcutter1008 Posted July 20, 2024 Posted July 20, 2024 (edited) To all those who have this problem: It is usually due to the cable that is plugged into the headset. Simply pull it out and plug it in again, that's it. I read this somewhere, tried it out and everything went fine again. It must have been a coincidence that this occurred shortly after the update. Hope that helps Edited July 20, 2024 by Leafcutter1008 1
Leafcutter1008 Posted July 28, 2024 Posted July 28, 2024 ...some months have passed again... Yes, I use blue light protection lense inserts...but I have to mention that this problem happens very rarely since I described it in april. Maybe Varjo solved this with their new software updates...but thanks for the question. I didn´t even think about the inserts may cause this error message... Cheers
Brainfreeze Posted July 29, 2024 Posted July 29, 2024 I solved it on mine… indeed the usb cable seating is flimsy i9 14900K / 64GB / RTX 4090 / Varjo Aero / Winwing Orion2 + F15EX / Virpil Wrbrd + Alpha Stick + ACE pedals
kouichi1 Posted August 19, 2024 Posted August 19, 2024 I had a similar problem but it was solved. I unplugged all the USB cables from the PC. When I plugged the Varjo Aero USB cable into a different USB port, the USB driver was reinstalled. It may also be effective to delete the USB driver with usbdeview-x64 and reinstall it. Best of luck.
