Kola Map: A military "tourist" guide

I am starting this post to get some landmarks, road bases for players and mission creators.  Please kindly contribute. Thank you in advance.

The Swedish part of the map really isn't ready yet but remind me later and I'll post about many Cold War era must-see tourist attractions, such as Boden and its fortress (cursed and bemoaned by generations of Swedish Army conscripts for over a hundred years), Vidsel (the Swedish Area 51), Morjärv, Töre, Fort Victoria at Vuollerim, etc etc.

As for road strips, Vidsel, Luleå/Kallax and Jokkmokk all have at least one in addition to their permanent short strips. See if you can find them; they're pretty easy to find once you know what they look like.

Here's a fragment of my .kmz showing air defence sites. I haven't done Sweden (and it's a nightmare finding them, the Finnish ones are also in that camp, but I have found a few, mostly completely by accident).

My full .kmz is an expansive list of POIs, not just showing where stuff is but in some cases I've included large descriptions (see the spoiler for an example) all referenced.

As we are sharing KMZ, here is one I created last year of Leningrad Military District in Soviet Times. Not a massive amount of the area covered by the map, but it WAS a very large military district. IIRC, it does illustrate some abandoned barracks and airbases, as well as the ammunition depots around Murmansk. Its all based upon CIA satellite data reports. Corona IIRC.

For those not yet aware, the Kola NPP up near Polyarnye Zori is fully modelled and looks fantastic.

Following the waterways both north and south you come across plenty of dams and bridges too, this area is really quite detailed!

Looks promising. BTW, early warning radar infront has no protection, its just there on its own.

It isn't complete just yet (there's a few things like NAVAIDS and airspace to do, as well as more completed electrical grid - I apologise for the long wait), but here's the full thing as it currently stands. When it's properly finished, I'll likely put it in a separate post.

Downloaded your file, great file, just some info in case you are interested: Near Slagnäs in Sweden you have written "Training area?" twice. Those are car test tracks, if you look around Arjeplog a bit more north you will also find many more.

Cheers, those 2 were some I remember not having information on (and in general the same is true whenever you see anything with a question mark).
