Im trying this again cuz its unbearable:

Issue:

Heavy „episodes“ of fps drops. A steady 89fps out of nowhere drops down to 1 Frame every few seconds for up to a minute and then recovers back to 89fps stable.
OXRToolkit Clock overlay also gets stuck and jumps seconds on the display. FPS overlay jumps with each displayed frame from i.e. 60fps to 1fps to 74fps to 4fps and so on where only 1 frame every few seconds is displayed. Like a complete desync. DCS doesnt keep running. Meaning im only that one frame closer to the carrier when the frame is displayed every few seconds. In other words: its not like DCS is running normally and I only see whats happening every few seconds. I was scared I would suddenly fly into a mountain when the next frame comes back but no. Seconds later im still in the same position.

Here is the weirdness: ONLY IN SINGLEPLAYER. NEVER IN MULTI!!

If it happens it happens quite frequently (every 5 min or so) and makes lets say )speed&angels campaign unflyable.

this has happened more and more but was there with every update version for the last year since I got my setup.

does anyone have any ideas where this problem could be?

Specs:

i9-13900k, 4090,SSD 1TB, 64gb ram

pimax 8kx, Pimax Client, DCS OXR with OXR Toolkit.

(I get amazing performance with graphics pretty much maxed out but: THISE EPISODES!)

You’re saying that you’re got your graphics nearly maxed out in VR, and then wonder why you’re having performance issues?

my suggestion is to go have a scan at some of the VR optimisation threads, which have some great advice

7800x3d, 5080, 64GB, PCIE5 SSD - Oculus Pro - Moza (AB9), Virpil (Alpha, CM3, CM1 and CM2), WW (TOP and CP), TM (MFDs, Pendular Rudder), Tek Creations (F18 panel), Total Controls (Apache MFD), Jetseat

Hey. Thanks for your answer. But please dont discard the issue. I have the same issue with settings alll turned down. Its not like I get consistent bad performance. I get great performance. Outstanding even when maxed out. And again… same settings never any issues in multiplayer!!!

there is something happening like a hickup in DCS in Singleplayer. Cant find anything on the web that sounds comparable.

Have you taken a look at any of the VR optimisation threads?

Yes sir! For a year. Performance is fantastic. Foveated optimized. Nvidia settings optimized. And so on. Im capping at 90fps. If I dont I get up to 110. what I am describing is a weird phenomenon.

Im getting the same FPS hiccup, its literally stuttering every 3 seconds regardless of mission or mp/sp. Everything working just fine before latest update.

I have spent about 3 hours with the F-4 now. It is heavier in VR compared to other modules. I set up a simple mission comparing F-5, F-16, F-14 and F-4 over isolated desert with clear skies on the PG map. Quest Pro with DFR and resolution of about 3500 pixels. DCS settings at moderate. DLSS 3.7 scaling 0.6 with preset F.

All planes have a steady 72 fps and frame times but with different GPU loads.

F-5 and F-16: about 60-65% GPU use

F-14: about 75% GPU load

F-4: about 80% GPU load.

The GPU use of the f-4 is about 1/3rd greater than the F-5 and F-16.

VRAM in all cases pushes up to about 11.8 GB which is normal for my setup.

On the Caucasus map F-4 take off instant action on the ground I get 40-50 fps and the frame times start to vary a lot. VRAM pushes up to maximum. Above about 2000 feet the FPS is 72 and frame times are steady.

In heavier scenarios the stuttering is a lot worse with maximum GPU use and max VRAM. Variable frame rates and big frame time spikes. Unfortunately I don't think the F-4 is very well optimized for VR yet.

Hey I appreciate your answers. Yet I have to say that non describe what I am seeing. Regardless of map or airframe I have a very steady strong performance for lets say 15min. Then I have an episode like that and it lasts a minute. Then back to normal! It seems to ramp up to then happen every 5min. NEVER IN MULTIPLAYER. ONLY IN SINGLE!

maybe your VRM's are overheating and it declocks the CPU? or the vrm's in the GPU??

Hi all

I am running a 13900KF, 4090, 64gb ram MSI motherboard and my system was overheating with different programs. My Vr performance in DCS was up and down sometimes ok sometimes not. Using the Pimax crystal at 72hz helped a lot but I came across an article @ Is your Intel Core i9-13900K crashing in games? Your motherboard BIOS settings may be to blame — other high-end Intel CPUs also affected (Updated) | Tom's Hardware (tomshardware.com) I changed my bios settings reduced my overclock followed the article and its cooled the system.  Today in DCS my vr performance has stabilised. I am not saying this is perfect by any means but its worth a read and draw your own conclusions

Are you perhaps running Tacview in single but not multiplayer? And is it filling your drive with tacview files?

Have it installed but never really messed with it. Everything should still be set to default. Hmm?

Yeah, if you don't disable it under Settings>Special>TacView, it will keep recording each time you fly.  Your drive is probably filled with recordings.
