Yes there is a lever on each throttle that needs to be pressed in order to move the throttle from cutoff to idle. Similar to a real jet.  However, that lever is not mappable.  So in the Virpil software I have to map axis to buttons (physical to logical) so that DCS will recognize the throttle movement.  Yes, Virpil software documentation sucks.  You need a PhD in Engineering to figure this stuff out.

Wait, WHAT? Are you serious? I would've imagine everyone copying TMs way of doing it, for simplicity. And you say not even the fingerlifts or whatever they are, have switches? Missed opportunities Virpil. LOL! If I ever swap my Warthog out, I will probably make/order a custom one.

They don’t have buttons/switches no, but that only really matters for the F-15E.

For everything else I do the same thing: axes as slider, invert and deadzone of 5 to account for the physical detent, and then bind 0% for each throttle to a button. It works flawlessly in each and every module 🤷‍♀️

Right, that's cool then!
Maybe you can compare notes with @Chops and help him out?

Sure but there’s little I can add really. It works the exact same way as with any other module in DCS.

By the way, I find Virpil gear to be hilariously superior to Thrustmaster, but that’s just my experience. The software isn’t that easy to figure out but once you do, it’s very powerful 😎

There are YT guides that help a lot!

Well, I have noe clue why it doesn't work for him if you have identical setups.
I mighy get that new Viper throttle, just so I can lift it INTO IDLE and AB. Only thing I miss on my Cougars. I did get a second hand CM2 base. It's nicer than the Warthog in a way, and way better build, while a am disappointed that you really can feel the difference in the force need for deflection on left/right, forward/back, on the tightest setting and hardest spring due to the single cam setup. Oh, well. I only got it to be able to use Virpil grips on my FFB2 Now, I'm saving up for a Rhino/Beast and a RealSimulator down the line.

Same setup I have, then! 😊 You’ll be in sim heaven once you do. Even though I only use the R3L for the F-16, it’s been quite worth the expense!

@Chops Feel free to let me know if there’s anything I can do to help.

Why is the WSO Startup Lesson taking place on the runway?  There is a destroyed Chinook on the taxiway and other aircraft holding short of the runway.F-4E WSO Startup.png

Hm. In the training lesson guide I found this:

On that same mission (WSO Cold Start), the trigger logic does not detect when the right engine reaches idle:

Also the rpm seems a bit high, it used to be closer to 65%. Checked my throttle and disabled my user mods, but the problem persists. Does anyone else has the same issue?

Yes, I found the information in the manual also.  I guess it was setup this way in order to allow the AI to takeoff and fly the aircraft..  No issues with the right engine in idle.  I did have problems with this before, if you look further up in this Thread.  I fixed it by re-setting my throttles in the Virpil Software.

I think the best you could do was to follow the suggestions in the Notes section of the lesson.

ok, will try that way … I tought that not touching my hotas would be enough to not interfere with the mission.

Hey Rudel! Did the trick fix the issues you experienced recently?

Hi, actually the issue was caused by my hotas throttle…. A calibration fixed it for me, as I exposed here:

I would really like to see an in depth training mission for the LGB’s and the pod, but I figured that is still WIP. Also, on the bombing range activities, can you make it where we can land and rearm to keep practicing? That is the only downside to me.

you can enable unlimited munitions on the Options screen.
