Latest update reset me, no dlc visible, complicated folder structure

Hi everyone,

TL;DR  I updated tonight from .55300 to .55918 and can no longer see any of my maps or aircraft modules, all i have is the TF51, SU25 and Caucasus.

I hope someone can help me with my install.  I have always used openbeta, and switched to multithread trial as soon as it came out.  After the update tonight, my DCS install seems to have been 'reest' in some way, I can longer access my terrains or other modules in game.  I've bought a fair amount of stuff:  Nevada, Persian Gulf, Syria, F/A18, Harrier, F15E, FC3, , Tiger, mig 21, Supercarrier, Phantom (which I was hoping to fly after a long week at work but oh well).  I can't see any of these in my game after I updated tonight. The thing is I can still see them all installed in my C:\Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World OpenBeta\Mods  folder taking up hundreds of GB on my hard drive, but for some reason DCS can't see them.

The whole structure of my install I find very confusing.  This is a summary of what I've got, does it seem right?

1) C:\Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World OpenBeta\bin
This folder has DCS_updater.exe in it but no DCS.exe  I swear there was a DCS.exe in there a few hours ago but now it is gone!  I noticed that the date modified on this .exe was a few days older than the ones below.

2) C:\Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World OpenBeta\bin\bin
This folder has a DCS.exe in it.  There are no folders in this folder, just dll files and a few other exe files inluding modelviewer.

3) C:\Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World OpenBeta\bin\bin-mt
This folder *also* has a DCS.exe in it.  There are no folders in this folder, just dll files and a few other exe files inluding modelviewer. Looks similar to the above folder.

So I have these kind of 'nested' bin folders, is that normal?

Both of these DCS.exe seem to point to the same DCS because when I launch either of them and change the theme/wallpaper on the DCS home screen (for example) it changes the theme in the other exe as well.  They both say they are version 2.9.5.55918.  Before the update from this week everything worked fine.

C:\Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World OpenBeta\Mods  Has all my mods in it, downloaded aircraft and terrain etc.

C:\Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World OpenBeta\bin\Mods   ...is Empty

I ran .\DCS_updater.exe repair in  C:\Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World OpenBeta\bin but it didn't help.

\DCS_updater.exe repair  does not work in
C:\Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World OpenBeta\bin\bin
or
C:\Program Files\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World OpenBeta\bin\bin-mt

I'm hoping I can solve this without having to download everything again or reinstall the whole thing, my internet isn't too fast.

My saved games was backed up at least

Thanks in advance for any help.

Out of curiousity, what are you using for an anti-virus (if anything).  A number of them (ESET, Kapersky, AVIRA are among the common suspects) have messed with people being able to run parts of DCS recently.

Can't help you with the folders unfortunately, but what you are describing does not look normal to how DCS is on my install.

Many thanks for the reply.  I don't use any additional anti-virus, and I'm on Windows 10.  I did find a thread where someone said that his AV had deleted a DCS.exe, not sure if that is part of my problem.

No, it is not normal, looks like you have a 2nd install of DCS on the /bin sub folder of your prior install ... mine looks like this:

No idea how to fix this without reinstalling everything from scratch, sorry

Thak you very much Rudel, this is the kind of info I need.  Now I know it isn't normal, I will start the reinstall going and go to bed.  Perhaps by Sunday afternoon I will get to fly again 🤣

Thanks for the help

the OP already said that a repair didn’t work:

\DCS_updater.exe repair  does not work in

What he apparently also needs is "clean".
