Are the Orion2 HOTAS mounting points the same as the TM Warthog?

Recommended Posts

Im thinking of upgrading from the TM Warthog to the WW Orion2 Warthog and I was looking over at the Monstertech site to price up new mounting plates and the Orion2 plates look just like the TM Warthog ones.

Is this accurate or just a picture error on the Monstertech site?

From memory they are exactly the same, but,you can check on the winwing's site, the manuals there have hole positions and measurements.

 the stick definitely is.

Oh, another question, why is the new Warthog £100 cheaper than the other Orion2 HOTAS's, arent they basically the same?

Or is this just a preorder price?

They aren't the same, Warthog is 1990's tech at 2024 price (and with a lot less switches and dials)

No, I mean why is the Orion 2 new Warthog version cheaper than the other Orion 2 products on the Winwing website?

I don't see a Warthog throttle on the WW site -excluding the F-16 single engine setup- just the orion2 with either F-18 and F-15 throttle grips (and F-18 or F-16 stick)

There is no Orion2 Warthog throttle. Thrustmaster make the Warthog throttle and Winwing make the Orion2!!!

Oh ffs did you even look at the Winwing site? I know its not an actual Warthog throttle, but this:

https://winwingsim.com/view/goods-details.html?id=324

Is CALLED the Warthog on their sales page, and I want to know why its £100 cheaper than the HOTAS 16. HOTAS 18 and HOTAS MAX?

First off, WW are morons for calling it that since it's the F16 stick with F18 grips, their (bad) redesign of the site apparently kinda threw both me and @MustangSally off, so, sorry about that

your link has the cheapest stick, no shaker, the cheapest grips and is missing the finger lift kit

No worries, that makes things clearer...and I am sorry for getting frustrated

So does the base Orion 2 throttle have any sort of physical idle and AB detents?

The real A-10c uses the F-16 stick and the 15E throttle grip.

So, you could say the WW version is accurate.

Although, the finger lift is missing. It can be added on the next model up or just buy it separate.

If it did have the F-15 grip,... but it's the F-18 grip

Nightdare.......... I mentioned to CS if they're going to call it a Warthog HOTAS it should have the proper grips on it. He said he's mention it to the devs. So, it should come with the 15E grip for the throttle and 16EX for the stick grip by default instead of having to choose it. It would be perfect if the finger lifts were added too but that probably won't happen and it's easy to add them anyway.

I just bought the Warthog HOTAS. It will be just right and I can also use it for the Hornet even if it won't be right for it but it will work. The Hornet always needed more buttons.

@BuzzU

I see the F15 throttle grip is now standard selected when clicking the item

(Though it still mentions the 18 metal throttle grip in the product description on the Hotas selection page, but at least people won't be getting the wrong product if they don't pay attention)

Intel I5 13600k / AsRock Z790 Steel Legend / MSI  4080s 16G Gaming X Slim / Kingston Fury DDR5 5600 64Gb / Adata 960 Max / HP Reverb G2 v2

I don't see that yet. Mine still says the F-18 is the default grip for the throttle. I wonder why you see the 15-E grip as default and I see the F-18?

I know what happened. You were looking at the Orion Max instead of the Orion Metal Warthog. The Max shows the 15E grip for the throttle.

They need to straighten this out. A noob will get it wrong. It's up the WW to get it right.

WW is a bit 'behind' (stil showing the Anniversary Orion2 base as selectable, but "always Out of Stock")

IMO WW should just do a 'modular buildup' in the buying process, a sort of "If/Then" like PC system builders

-Select Setup, in that page start with bases, If [type base] then next page select grips , then next select accessories (rudder, displays, mips, etc.), perhaps even do an 'extras' page with parts/mounts, add any discount to the final price
