I was just curious, there's been much talk about flying, but not too much on fighting. I would just like to know how you prepare to engage defended target groups, use your wingmen, datalink, HMS, etc.

 

What weapons are you employing against which targets, and if anyone finds any good tracks or videos demonstrating good engagements it would be cool to see them posted here.

i like to hover behind a hill or some thing similar pop up and take out the heavy armor / air threats with the ATGM's then clean up the rest with the gun's. still not great at long range with the rockets but getting better.

 

the gun pods are great value as well :D

 

has any one tried the KH missile i love how the chopper gets moved around by the launching of this massive missile

Effective against SHORAD and the like........eg a Tor, Osa etc etc where getting within Vikhr range without cover is suicide. A 25ML from altitude will see you getting the last laugh.

 

]Wait a minute....you can carry KH's? How come I haven't seen them in the mission editor?

 

Custom Payload in the Mission Editor. Select New Payload/Missiles and you will have the option to load ML's.

Against armored vehicles it is rather obvious that there are only Vikhrs ;]

 

Against soft vehicles, troops, soft positions I use Cannon. Often against Shilka too.

 

I use HMS to slew fastShkval. Mixed with auto-turn feature it is quite nice thing.

 

Try do some trainings, then you will see there is no universal receipe for fight ;]

Reminder: Fighter pilots make movies. Bomber pilots make... HISTORY! :D | Also to be remembered: FRENCH TANKS HAVE ONE GEAR FORWARD AND FIVE BACKWARD :D

Because the ground AI right now is mostly passive, the only real tactic you need at the moment is a stand off hover. Get in position outside the maximum range of their defense and blast away with Vikhrs against priority targets. Then close to about 3 km and mop up with the cannon.

 

Frankly thats basicaly it about combat in Black Shark (hopefully that will change in the future).

Aye - so true!

 

Thankfully Intelligent Mission-Building and Human Opfor goes a wee way to spice things up a little.....a person tires quickly of the Scoot, Shoot and Roost scenarios. That said - is effective for practice!

flying missions over and over can over simplify the sim. People just learn where and when they are safe.

 

If attacked during cruise, I'll maneuver into a defensive 360 to regroup with my wingman and hopefully get back to the safe area for an attack.

 

Using a hunter/killer technique works well too if practiced with your wingman. The WM hangs back and has the HMS ready to designate any Sam or AAA that targets his/her wing leader flying a KM or two ahead. Wing lead needs to be good at evading for this :)

 

People that seem to enjoy just blasting things will tire and stop flying BS in a short while. It is a flight sim and that means from start to end of the mission. There is so much depth to use, but it is up to the pilot and group they fly with to make use of it.

Here is one track with one of my missions . It´s on highest realism. I always begin with destroying the AA defences and then i continue to blast other targets. In this track you see all weapons i use for different types of targets. After destroying AA defences i use my wingmen on tanks. In this track i also destroy one helicopter with cannon.
