Watch all Producer notes! They helped me so much to understand.

I discovered that this board allows now to embed youtube videos and I thought that it would be good the have a thread that covers only operating instructions. For a quick reference and your convenience if you are stuck with a problem.

so, with regards to the basic flight video above (notes #3)...to perform those maneuvers so clean, what do you think he had engaged for autopilot settings? just bank and pitch? flight director mode?? no way could I do it that smooth right now with my skills, and he doesn't seem to be fighting any corrective autopilot measures.

Around the 20 second mark you can see that he has all 4 AP channels enabled. Furthermore the FD must be disabled, as the associated symbology is not present on the HUD.

 

Flying with the AP, rather than against it, is all a matter of practice. It's not there for you to fight against it, it's there to assist you. Once you've spent sufficient time with it, you will learn to understand how to fly with it, and the maneuvers in this video will seem mundane.

He likely has the trim button held down there. It's hard to work with the autopilot when it actively adds input contrary to your own. Just try to perform a hammerhead turn with the trim button not held down. You will sidelip a klick before the thing actually begins to yaw.
