Hi Guys,

Ive experienced a performance loss in VR, using a Quest Pro, Proper link cable, Open XR (just the tool not the toolkit). I used to get a solid 72fps per eye now I am bouncing between 30-72fps and its not playable.

Im cpu limited regardless of game/graphic settings, using a 14900k, 64gb DDR5 and a 4090. I also had to disable my hyper threading and E cores otherwise menu's in VR are unusable.

I also lost my FC3 planes and my throttle axis for my Warthog is broken for most modules.

Cheers

Did you have any particular settings tweaked in OpenXR Toolkit prior to the update?

Take what I'm about to say with a big grain of salt, but I had a strange issue with mine where I too lost performance. I found that in the registry for OpenXR Toolkit there were 2 entries. One for DCS and one for DCS World. It appeared as though my existing entries had been removed, but I was able to copy them from DCS to DCS World.

I'm not saying that's definitely the case, because I was playing with some other stuff at the time as well, however I did have performance issues, and after restoring my OpenXR Toolkit I am back to experiencing the same performance as pre-patch.

I'm running OpenXR / HP Reverb / 4090 / Win 11.

It may not be the issue at all - but it might be worth just checking, especially if you tweaked settings in OpenXR and they're no longer there.

Thanks for the reply Dangerzone. Im only using OpenXR Tools for WMR, im not using the toolkit. For some reason it looks like my CPU 14900k is not getting along with multi threading. Ive heard of this with two 12900k's from guys on our Discord group. Whatever it is, its not isolated.

Since you are using a QuestPro, this is absolutely irrelevant. Nothing you set in there has any effect for you because as the name of the app suggests, it is for Windows Mixed Reality and the respective headsets that use it (i.e. HP G2).

In the settings of the Meta PC app, make sure that it is set as your OpenXR runtime (Settings>General)!

I have a 13700K and for DCS I disabled the 8th core (P-core), which has solved the problem of frequent freezes for me. Disabling all E-cores had a negative effect for me and even though this was propagated by some people, I think it‘s bull<profanity>. But find whatever works for you!

Disabling e-cores would not be advisable in general, but applying this only for DCS.exe plus increasing priority is very good to eliminate stutters particularly on 13th and 14th gen Intel CPU.  Consider using ''process lasso'' (https://bitsum.com/), it is a free app that gives you the ability to prioritize and assign specific core to applications.  For me, it gave the most fluide and smooth rendering ever.

@Bossco82 for your other problems, consider running a repair on you DCS, disable any mods and test incrementally.  Also, the last update has broken quadviews foveated rendering and causes huge issues.  You can find a workaround in the VR Bugs forum until the next patch that is supposed to fix this.

Yes, this is a DCS issue, I have it in my Crystal as well.  There are some finding relief by turning down the "rate" of their gaming mice.  I can't adjust mine.  I am sure a fix is incoming.  No need to spin your wheels on core parking etc.

@Glide

I was referring to the post before mine which stated that he loses his wireless connection more often now.

As far as I know a Crystal doesn‘t have a wireless connection yet. So I don‘t see how this would happen to you as well?!

Just replying to the performance issue.  Yes, the Crystal has an amazing wireless addon now.  I don't have it though.  I have noticed that the headset will nose tracking at the start of a mission.  I'm in the cockpit, then I'm outside it, and I have to reset the view.  Not sure if that's related.

I play on Quest 2, wired, and frequently have connection issues every 20~30 minutes or so while flying. Long freeze/stutter in the headset, as if the connection is lost breifly for about 2 seconds, then back to normal.

Thanks for the replies guys. I got some headway just disabling hyperthreading in the end. Otherwise multiplayer menus are unusable. Busy servers have FPS issues. In the end E cores dont make much difference but it is somewhat smoother without them. My MSI z790 can park them on the fly.

I don't use wireless for my oculus, I use a proper cable. I'm not getting meta hourglass freezes. I'm getting menu freezes in multi and FPS loss. Then DCS crashes.

Pre update on Wednesday it was fine, post update, for me on Saturday it was not and the game of swapping and testing settings began.

One friend has the exact same issue, using a 12900k open XR and a hp G2. Another has less of a problem 12900k, steam vr and a valve index.

If I go back to 2d with a track it I have no issue a solid 60fps in 4k. That's as far as I got testing.

This is solved for me, even though I removed a couple of cold war aircraft mods I had installed in the saved games folder. It was two files from the OH-6A mod in the Scripts/Hooks folder causing a micro stutter and fps loss every 3-5 seconds. Removed those files and im back to 72fps per eye.

Yes just delete those two files. I still have the OH-6A installed and working, well, except for the AI door gunners. My fps performance is back to normal now.
