According to an F-16 manual i saw it describes that, when making the Hsd soi the radar TDC cursor should disappear from the Hsd and when making the Hsd soi the Hsd cursor should always start appear from around slightly Infront of the Own aircraft symbol on the Hsd.

Also e.g. when having the fcr scale at 80 (in crm mode) while having the Hsd scale at 40 or any other scale that is not 80 or above, when making the Hsd soi it will automatically go to 80 scale bc the fcr scale is at 80.

Do you know which F-16 manual you saw that in? The ED one doesnt seem to describe that behaviour.

Here is a small hint.

HSD is SOI no radar Cursor visible, but as soon as the SOI changes the radar Cursor jumps back into the picture

@HobelOMG Thankyou sow much for this literally what i was talking about on how the hsd should behave thankyou.

@Lord VaderI think this is enough evidence right?

Also a bit off topic here but i feel like in the exp modes for the hsd gives too much zoom compered to the video.

Unfortunately, we can't be sure just by watching that video. We need to be sure this is correct behaviour for our simulation, based on the F-16C Block 50 CCIP.

I will bring this to the team but, meanwhile, if anyone has that documented evidence, please PM it.

Hi all,

we have looked at the publicly available docs and the video and it is still not clear about SOI, MLU documents for the EPAF F-16's differ from USAF.

We do not see any clear evidence for a change in DCS.

Thank you

The document in question should be CM-34. Even CJ-34 is not the correct one, not to mention MLU ones. I doubt we have publicly available CM-34.

But the differences are not big and most of them are optimizations.

And if the MLUs and the like point to this and there are still no documents that speak for or against it. so🤷‍♂️
this is not a big deal here but if HSD is SOI and the radar Cursor disappears it would be a purely declutter measure.

This also poses a question about which documentation our current implementation is based on. CM-34 circa 2007 is THE only correct document for this function, and it's clearly not public. Other publicly available docs, videos, or even controlled ones like CJ-34, AM-34, etc. may not depict the correct version and therefore require SME confirmation.

I guess the best possible way is to handover the question and the video to SMEs (not necessarily ED's), and hopefully they can confirm if there's any differences. Or, to dig into some public papers like DTIC to see if there's any relevant info. (maybe not this one but I find it useful for FM related issues)

Is it possible to remove the "correct as is" tag?

I think this should be investigated. @BIGNEWY

Hello, we have already investigated with evidence sent to us but as mentioned above it is not clear it should be changed, If you have public evidence please PM me and I will ask the team again.

thank you
