One would think if they've built in "fog", then they could turn off the lousy haze altogether. I see no need for both.

Lol, yes.  I wish they would just give us a slider to reduce the haze intensity.

I nedd to do a full check, I know label masking is still working and haze control not. I'm struggling a bit to restore it...

Thank you, i'm amazed that DCS has introduced a way to make the haze (fog) so thick you can't see 10' in front of you but no way to go the opposite way... boggles the mind.

Sorry for the delay, but I spend tome time to fix some stuttering I had in VR with DCS (fixed by a BIOS update + reset of Bios settings) then to try to find the better settings to keep 45 fps with Varjo motion smoothing (not so successfull).

I went also in a wrong direction with fog...Now the atmosphere haze setting is back in my "draft" mod, I just need to extend/polish, it should be ready next week.

Control of fog seems more tricky, I can easilly disable it but not tune the intensity...But as fog level is defined by mission designer, this should not be a needed option...

I must be doing  something wrong, the effects are only showing in external views, not my cockpit view. @lefuneste01

Thank you

Did you install reshade 6.3.3 ? Did  you have the settings shown in post 1 ? Was it working with the previous version of the mod ?

I had cockpit illumination on. That was then issue. Thank you

@lefuneste01 would it be possible to add a NVG mod for the noise?

A little teaser of V6.0 :
Here is the "ColorMatrix" effect of reshade rendered  in Left Inner and Outer quad view, but only in Outer right view (as seen in VR HMD, not in mirror screen).
I have still some work to do, but the idea will be to select reshade effects for Inner, Outer or both views(if quad view). Of course, for "standard" VR the effect will be rendered for both eyes by the mod.

Performance vs which reference ? I think it will have to be tested to have an answer...Effects are engaged on a specific shader output, used for each rendering (once per eye in standard VR, 2 time per eye for quad view). Plus the standard game mirroring, as I used the reshade active effect to know which one are to be engaged...

Do I need to do anything special for the IL-2 version of VREM? ReSHade 6.3.3 shows up but I see nothing under Add-Ons?

VREM for il2 is not using reshade, but 3dmigoto library. I have to migrate the DCS VREM to reshade because the 3dmigoto library was no more working with the VR in DCS MT...So you need to install the VREM mod for Il2 without reshade. I did not take the effort to migrate it to reshade, it should not give too many advantage for a lot of work.

Edit:

Just ran the Reshade installer again, still pointing to DCS MT folder, this time selecting OpenXR as well as DirextX 10/11 and then under Addons I now have the option to sync runtimes and it is working. Toggling Reshade on and off results in changes taking effect immediately in VR.

Anyone got this working on Quest 3? I followed the instructions from page 1:

  1. Download reshade 6.3.3 with Full Addon Support
  2. Install, ticking only Direct X 10/11
  3. Left all other settings as default (I noticed there wasn't any addons ticked by default?)
  4. Installed the mod using OVGME

Reshade is working as expected in 2D, I've confirmed it's not working at all in VR by applying the Cartoon shader to make it look horrendous, also tried restarting DCS multiple times.

Software versions I'm running:

  • DCS: 2.9.11.4685 MT
  • Reshade: 6.3.3 Full Addon Support
  • Meta Quest Link app version 72.0.0.500.353 (72.0.0.500.353)
  • Quest OS Version: SQ3A.220605.009.A1
  • Quest Runtime Version: 71.0.0.612.529.665334779
  • Quest Version: 71.0.0.605.522.665334826

I've seen in a few other places regarding this mod that under Addons, there should be an option to update all run times with effects, however that option is not there for me and instead says "This is the only active effective runtime instance" which makes me think that we should be installing Reshade with OpenXR support?; Doesn't DCS default to OpenXR now?

Hi it.shifty,

Yes, it works perfectly on my Quest 3.  You need to do a separate install for the regular “bin” folder in order for the program to work in the non mt folder.  I did the install manually without OVGME.
