toebone Posted September 3, 2024 Posted September 3, 2024 Hello all, Since the last (big) update I have frequent crashes to desktop. I uninstalled and reinstalled the game with no change. I also noticed that it seemed to be more frequent in the F4 (too be fair, this may just be perception), so I tried uninstalling it with an almost immediate crash after reinstalling it. I use VR with a quest 3 and the quest app with a link cable. I am running a 4090 with a 14900 processor and 64G of ram. I am definitely not good with digging around my computer and changing files and such, so hopefully there is a first grade level fix. I will also attach my log for the evening and see if anyone see anything. I appreciate any help as always, Nathan dcs.log

The DCS folder in the saved games directory is your configuration folder settings. By renaming it to DCS.ORIG, you're forcing DCS to reset all it's settings (this is different to a re-install). You can copy back over the config directory for your inputs/controls from DCS.ORIG to the new DCS directory when it's created (Close DCS before doing so) to save you having to remap your controls. Often this can fix a lot of unexpected issues. Even if you only want to do it temporarily (and then delete the new DCS directory and rename DCS.ORIG back to DCS) - it can be very helpful for debugging as well. This will require you to do some basic 'digging' around in your PC using file explorer, but that's it. 1
toebone Posted September 3, 2024 Author Posted September 3, 2024 Thanks Danger, I will look into that tomorrow. I did empty out the metashaders and one other file as suggested, of course AFTER I posted this. I played for a short time with no issues, but it is a sporadic issue. I will have to do more flying to know for sure if it worked.
ED Team NineLine Posted September 3, 2024 ED Team Posted September 3, 2024 Next time, if you do, crash, send the entire zip folder it creates and we can have a look to see if we can see anything. Thanks! Forum Rules • My YouTube • My Discord - NineLine#0440• **How to Report a Bug**

Thanks! NineLine, thanks for the suggestion. I am not sure where the zip file would be located, but I will do some research after this is up. I have been having the same crash every time. I spawn into any mission in any aircraft and fly for around the same amount of time before the game just crashes to desktop. I can rinse and repeat indefinitely. I will add the log for just a few minutes ago and see if anyone can see anything again. I will also look for the zip file you requested and post if I figure it out. Thanks as always. dcs.log These are some crash logs from earlier today, though they don't come up every time. It will have a date code in the name.
