Can you suggest the easiest way to generate 2d map representation (very high resolution so higher than a simply print screen)?

A 2d map of what?

Hey;

DCS wiki page is outdated http://en.wiki.eagle.ru/wiki/All_about_land is there an update for the 64bit format...???:music_whistling:

It has not been possible to edit that wiki in at least a year, AFAIK.

I think you need to new terrain engine (EDGE) has release (1.3.0), expected the wiki can be update with new info.

For Work/Gaming: 28" Philips 246E Monitor - Ryzen 7 1800X - 32 GB DDR4 - nVidia RTX1080 - SSD 860 EVO 1 TB / 860 QVO 1 TB / 860 QVO 2 TB - Win10 Pro - TM HOTAS Warthog / TPR / MDF

so we are expecting an update at some point???

with what is needed to edit terrain and other objects???

My point was that the wiki is not a useful source for that information. Otherwise, as SD said, until EDGE comes out, there is no useful information available.

Not sure, can by used by a temp to test proposes, but think can be "depleted" with the new engine. Al terrain based on that method has stalled or awaiting news of EDGE.

Doubtful. Current engine uses lsa3. lsa2 is old technology for FC and BS1. No converter exists that I am aware of

thanks, thought that :(, however AssembleScenes.cfg in Config folder contains this

landfile2 = ".\\Bazar\\Terrain\\Surface\\land.lsa2";

landfile3 = ".\\Bazar\\Terrain\\Surface\\land.lsa3";

when i tried to use "landfile2 =" terrain in terrain.cfg.lua then DCSW crashed :cry:

My best guess would be that it WAS a way to switch back and forth for testing when they made the change from lsa2 to lsa3. Most likely just leftover stuff

The command line code for conversion from LSA2 to LSA3 is on the first A10C beta but missing the main exe...

So exist a converter.

I remember it was a .bat file with command and options associated to the main exe, but exe is missing so it's unusable...

I don't remember on what directory is, I have saw this years and years ago...

I'm searching this for a long time, I have a lot of LSA2 projects on my hard drive...

Wags has said that new terrain tools likely wont be released unless you have signed an agreement with ED to create terrain.... if we are talking the tools for new maps.

Hi, my short story is: how to sign an agreement with ED to access the guide and developer tool?

My long story is: I want to create a new terrain of my hometown, I need to know is the guide of #1 still works with DCS 1.5 (or 1.2 but I prefer 1.5).

Another question is can we use the satellite image from Google, Bing to create the terrain? And how to change the coordinate range (to match the real location)?

In order to be granted a 3rd party map developer license, you will first need to demonstrate the following:

1- Proficiency in 3DS Max with examples of work.

2- Ability to create quality terrain textures with examples of work. Textures need to range from 1 meter per pixel to 64 meters per pixel.

3- Access to high resolution elevation mesh and satellite textures. Elevation mesh needs to be between 4 to 8 meters per pixel minimum.

4- Ability to create high quality 3D objects with examples of work.

5- A development plan of what you have in mind.

All this can be submitted to Wags.

Thanks for the heads up! How about blender? Can I use blender to model?

Also, thanks for the checklist (I can't remember if this has been posted elsewhere before). I have far too many other commitments outside of DCS right now, but I'll keep this in mind in case that changes in the future. Edited by VincentLaw
