DCS Mosquito FB VI 3rd Anniversary (17 Sept 24)

I can't belive it's been 3 years today since the Mossie dropped!!. How time flies by!!.

I have fond memories of the hype leading up to the release, the first trailer "The Mossies are coming"!! dropping - one of the best intro trailers I've ever seen in DCS. The Mossie Monday series, and the build up to this day 3 years ago. All exciting stuff.

She's still a fantastic module and I fly her regularly, but sadly she seems to have been forgotten by ED, dumped on the back burner for what ever reason. No tangable updates for 2 years or more, still no AI nav, no wind drift indicator to mess with, no operable escape hatch on the roof of the cockpit, no flare gun, no operable windscreen wiper, no AI pilot or Nav bodies in VR.

It's sad that such an iconic module has been all but forgotten.

Happy 3rd birthday old girl....

Hi bart,

she is a great module for sure, and we still have some work to complete, but we have to do it as resources and dev time allow us to. The work isn't forgotten.

 thank you

Feels forgotten. Been waiting for basic AI pilot stuff for literal years now. Even just the ability for ai pilot to fly straight and level, or orbit just so one can use the navigator position during missions...better yet, being able to ask the navigator to tune frequencies would be great.

So much early access, so much money spent, map after map after map with little content to actually do in them. I've stopped making purchases due to lack of confidence.

You don't have to.

Fortunately there are some kind souls who share what should be ED's development work.

You can get this from user file downloads..

Thank you pxllux.

( I use Voice Attack to provide the sequence of keystroke for operation and also  to reset the original radio channel .

Still working on it as the radio reset screws up sometimes, but the autopilot bit works fine).

Here if anyone using VA wants it.  autopilot.vap

Yeah Happy Birthday Mos. 🙂

In fairness, there was some work done on the Mossie. Just before Christmas time they broke the suspension and we had about eight months of whining before it was put right. I had a load of ‘test missions’ I’d made of me taking off, orbiting and landing using different airfields on various maps. I was still making them when it was fixed so never needed to post them. I spent ages doing them too. I’m fine with that as we have a working Mossie again which is all I was worried about. I s’pose I could always do with the practice.

While technically not abandoned this wasn’t quite the work we’d hoped to see though was it. I’m on the fence when it comes to the auto-pilot so don’t mind it as is, though I understand without someone else to take the nav seat things can get tricky. As Terry pointed out, pxllux swept to the rescue and gave us the help needed, cheers pxllux, it works too.

I flew it last night for a bit. At one point there were three or four in the air and a couple of us flew in formation for a while. Looked and sounded great while it lasted. I’m still a bit miffed it isn’t the fastest thing in the air as I thought it was meant to be (in it’s day) but that’s more to do with the mad plane set we have I think. I still love it, just needs a bit of TLC.

Yeah, I feel the same. WWII in general has been abandoned. ED is moving forward in time with the new releases, things that make more money, faster.

And in the midst of all this, there is the Mossie. Still waiting for some massive development.

And it is really sad to see ED saying that they'll work on it when resources and dev time allows it. For me, it shows a very dark scenario, where ED did not really plan for the continued development of this bird.

Regarding the auto-pilot mod, it is what I've been saying in forums around: who will save DCS is not ED, but its fans.
