motoadve Posted September 25, 2024 Posted September 25, 2024 I push the fuse down, switch up (Ein), have the button selected in my stick to drop ordinance. Press button, Rockets don't fire, I must be missing something?
motoadve Posted September 25, 2024 Author Posted September 25, 2024 Yes, plane had bombs and rockets. Was able to drop bombs no problem.

From my experience, which is a few years old by now, you cannot use rockets with the big bomb. You can use rockets only with the 4 small ones AFTER you jettisoned the bomb rack.

I gave up on carrying both bombs and rockets on d9, but if the 4x50s work that's great.
motoadve Posted September 25, 2024 Author Posted September 25, 2024 I had the 4x50s , dropped them , and rockets did not worked. Now historically was the D9 using rockets and bombs combined? or just bombs or rockets?

motoadve Posted September 25, 2024 Author Posted September 25, 2024 Rockets were not used. As it was used in the anti-fighter role, armament in the "D" was generally lighter compared to that of the earlier aircraft—usually the outer wing cannon were omitted so that the armament consisted of two 13 mm (0.51 in) cowling-mounted MG 131s, with 400 rounds per gun, and two wing root mounted 20 mm MG 151/20E cannon with 250 rounds per gun; all four weapons were synchronized to fire through the propeller arc.[44] The wings of the D-9 still had the electrical circuits and attachment points for the underwing BR 21 rocket propelled mortar, although none appeared to have used these operationally.[45] While inferior to the A-series in roll rate, the "D" was superior in turn rate, climb, dive and horizontal speed. The Dora still featured the same wing as the A-8, however, and was capable of carrying outer wing cannon as well, as demonstrated by the D-11 variant, with a three-stage supercharger and four wing cannon (two MG 151s and two MK 108s).[46] The first Fw 190 D-9s started entering service in September 1944, with III./JG 54. It was quickly followed by other units including I./JG 26 which flew its last operations on the A-8s on 19 November 1944.[47]

LeCuvier Posted September 29, 2024 Posted September 29, 2024 The R4M rockets work fine after you jettisoned the bomb rack of the SC50 bombs. Which means that you have to use your bombs first. I tried the same scenario with the SC500 bomb and found that the SC500 bomb rack doesn't come off when you press the Jettison button ("Jettison Fuselage Stores"). And consequently, I could not fire the rockets. Is this a bug, or is it how the real thing worked? Unfortunately the flight manual doesn't go into these details. Speculating... In a scenario where you carry a SC500 bomb (maybe to attack a ship), you would probably not want to carry rockets, they would be just dead weight. And takeoff with a SC500 under your belly is hard enough without any extra weight (for me at least). Doughguy Posted September 29, 2024 Posted September 29, 2024 (edited) Correct. If you have the 4*250kg bombs, and jettison the "quad" rack (the main ec504 rack cant be jettisoned), you can fire any of the rockets. Not possible if you have the single 500kg bomb attached. Works on the anton tho. Cant say if correct or bug, id say the latter tho. Cant see why it shouldnt be wired the same as in the anton. So far ive only seen only this or that configurations. Either Bombs, (clusters mainly) or the small r4m rockets. Edited September 29, 2024 by Doughguy https://sr-f.de/
