martinistripes Posted May 27, 2009 Posted May 27, 2009 (edited) I'm running Black Shark at great speeds with high settings. However I notice sometimes the landscape above the horizon seems to be a little washed out and seems to scroll and flicker. It's usually noticable more so when I'm on the pad. GPU is a Geforce Go 9800GTS. But I'm wondering if it's easily solved by changing settings in nvidia control panel or nhancer. Has anyone else got this? I don't think this is the rotors by the way. Update. I've just switched off all nhancer settings and tried with low graphics settings and I still get the same effect. It's very visible on second mission of Deployment (escort mission). Also, it's definitely not the rotor effect either as if I look out to the left and right I see these. Is anyone else running the game with a similar video card that can confirm this or offer a solution. Thanks. But it's always noticable on distant hills/mountains. In the near distance textures are solid. Valve Index | RTX 4080 (Mobile) | i9-14900HX @ 2.20 GHz | 32GB RAM
Dusty Rhodes Posted May 27, 2009 Posted May 27, 2009 Drop back to the 182.50 and see if that corrects it, if you feel like it. One way to fix it is do disable cloud shadows; there is a mod available on lockonfiles.com that does this. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]

In the near distance textures are solid. 185.81 are a beta version, which I always avoid, letting others try them first. Did you run the 185.85 version? And as it is a known bug, updating drivers will not solve it,though it is advisable to run the latest drivers. [/url]My MAKS 2015 Pictures
Feuerfalke Posted May 28, 2009 Posted May 28, 2009 Apparently the only thing that will really help getting rid of it, it to downgrade your graphics card. The old engine was based on DX7 and it needs some features that are no longer supported. This is very obvious with the full shadows in LockOn, but while they fixed that special part other areas of the engine still seem to be somewhat behind the capability of modern graphics-card features. Hopefully the new engine will solve that whenever it will be released ;) MSI X670E Gaming Plus | AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D | 64 GB DDR4 | AMD RX 6900 XT | LG 55" @ 4K | Cougar 1000 W | CreativeX G6 | TIR5 | CH HOTAS (with BU0836X-12 Bit) + Crosswind Pedals | Win11 64 HP | StreamDeck XL | 3x TM MFD

I just registered with lockonfiles and can't find anything to remove cloud shadows despite a search. Also, I just updated to the latest official drivers 185.85 for vista 64 and still get the same effect. Curious if this is nvidia specific. Either way, I really hope ED can fix this. mobias Posted June 1, 2010 Posted June 1, 2010 I totally get this too, but, before patch 1.0.2 i didn't notice this as much, it may have been there barely, but nothing like this... so, it must be some bad code that got infused from the lock-on series or something. also, does anyone know what the new sound designations [like headphones] mean exactly? i mis the sound of the cockpit functions and such, it all seems quieter now.. InFireBaptize Posted June 1, 2010 Posted June 1, 2010 i'm not sure what i see is the same issue the OP has described. But i see thick black shadowy column moves on mountains, it almost looks like it is scanning the mountains. It doesn't bother me but just thought of mentioning it. Sarge55 Posted June 1, 2010 Posted June 1, 2010 Baptize Sounds like you have the clouds issue. Look for the "NoCloudShadows" mod, I think it was by Teka Teka. It's at Lockon Files, works with BS. mobias Posted June 5, 2010 Posted June 5, 2010 Does anyone know if this issue might actually be fixed in an upcoming patch, or on a to-do list or something? I hate when a game is visually flawed..ruins the immersion etc...and i don't really want to start modding this game out for a temp fix either..that leads to trouble. So for anyone that uses this workaround, can you tell us what exactly changes? I assume the cloud shadows are removed[duh], but doesn't that take some of the realism away? [think M$ FlightSim series]. Thanks to all... Sarge55 Posted June 5, 2010 Posted June 5, 2010 Yes, it does remove all the shadows so it does take away from the realism a bit but for me it's a fair trade to not have the moving shadows on the hillsides. Use Modman to install and remove mods, I haven't had any issues. If I don't like a mod I remove it without any after affects (so far).
