"No auto-180-rotation" option for new parking feature

Recommended Posts

Posted (edited)

I know it's not yet released but better call it sooner rather than later.

Please make the new automatic 180 rotation optional at parking after being directed by new deck marshalls after trapping. The auto-180-rotation is immersion breaking and unrealistic.

Many sim players appreciate doing full uninterrupted missions from cold start up to full shutdown in real time, without unrealistic features.

Ideally we would be directed to the parking spot and just be given the shutdown signal

For those that want to rearm and stay in the mission for next launch by all means keep the option to autorotate/teleport.

Thanks

This is a weird design choice. I understand why it's difficult to do a full realistic pushback, but at least the teleport/snap could happen after you do the 180 yourself. It would be less jarring.

Indeed, i hope ED give us the option for disable/enable the rotation snap. I´m one of those cases that likes to do a uninterrupted sortie from cold start to full shutdown.

A must have in my opinion, or else, i just won´t see me using the flight directors that much and disable them in DCS options.

Well, it hasn't been released this week, so there's still hope that maybe they'll sneak this in before the release. 🙂

Let´s hope. If not possible at launch i believe that probably in the future 😎

Despite this feature, or lack of it, i was waiting for the flight directors for a long time. Eager to try it.

Why did I hear Andre's voice in my head when I read your post. 😄

But I think you're right. If it doesn't make it into the initial release - it's probably not going to be touched (except for major bugs) anytime soon. We've seen that with Dynamic spawns.

I think it would be less jarring to just have the aircraft towed around by an invisible tug than magically flip 180. Even better have an AI tug driver. But that’s more work.

Looks like they didn't listen and we're forced into 180° rotation after parking. This is bad.

Current workaround - at least for the Tomcat - is to keep the wings not fully swept. So if you want to just park and go with the shutdown checklist you have to bend the procedure a bit and not sweep the wings to 68°.

Last flight with my friends on multiplayer, i trapped and followed directors to the parking spot. It turned me around automatically, i started shutting down procedure. My friend trapped, got his way to parking position next to me on elevator 2. Seeing him jump around and teleport was immersion breaking as hell. But if that was not enough, during his "automatic 180 turn" he hit me and got damaged. (visible damage on right stab). Please - make this ugly teleportation optional - when plain captain gives you stop signal, give us option if pilot wants to remain as is and proceed with shut down, or if he wants a turn-around.

Agreed. Going from past experience - if it's not in now... we probably have a 2 yearstm. wait on our hands - and that is if our request is listened to. There seems to be a trend that once a feature is released, only pressing bugs are considered. Don't expect any future enhancements / changes for a significant period of time. It'll be filed away under WIP.

At least with this option we still have the ability to disable it and go back to the previous option. Hopefully they won't remove that feature prematurely like they did with the spotting dots.

It would also help people who make their own routes immensely. Maybe control it with an argument in the routes or crew lua files.

Please add this. The magic turnaround is useless in SP and immersion breaking. At the very least, mission creators need to be able to toggle it on and off. Right now, the only way to avoid it is to stop short of the intended parking position.
