Zimmerdylan Posted November 25 Posted November 25 When I try and load missions from the M.E. I get booted to the desktop at the last part of the load. When I reach World Preload, it just boots me to the desk top. No explanation, no nothing. I've done repairs, dumped and reinstalled, everything. Any Ideas?
sleighzy Posted November 25 Posted November 25 (edited) Drop your DCS log file here. “C:\Users\username\Saved Games\DCS\Logs\dcs.log” (it may just be a text document named “dcs” if your Windows is hiding file extensions). Drop the crash zip file here as well if one was produced. Make sure you replicate the issue and drop the log here first before restarting the game Does this only occur for missions from the mission editor, ie single player missions, instant action, etc. all work fine? You can also try renaming your Saved Games\DCS\MissionEditor folder to Saved Games\DCS\MissionEditor.old and starting the game again. This will cause DCS to recreate the Mission Editor if this is corrupt. Edited November 25 by sleighzy 1
Zimmerdylan Posted November 25 Author Posted November 25 As of right now DCS and anything related is off of my system. I kind of think that I'm just done. I have been with this train wreck for 15 years. Of the several other sims that I have on my computer that work without issue 90% of the time DCS is the one that I spend more time looking for solutions than actually flying the sim. At times I have gone years without flying DCS because of the constant issues. When I eventually come back.....Same old issues. It's a shame. I see only in the DCS forums solutions like: "Move this file from here to here." "Change the name of that file." "Delete these files." I should not have to do any of this.....Ever. I never have to do it with any other game or sim that I play. That's the job of the developer. I use no mods. I never go on the servers. I set up simple flights in the M.E. I never make complicated missions with triggers or time lines. I am a casual user. I do not have the time nor the desire to waste on technical stuff that many of you seem to not have any issues with devoting your time to. It seems that DCS isn't for casual users but for those who wish to spend their time doing technical crap. So.......I find other sims much less stressful. Thanks for your input but I solved my issue. 1

If this were true for every user, no one would fly DCS at all ... on my case, I spend most of my time flying DCS, and the remaining time I spent tinkering on the Mission Editor ... looking for solutions is, at least on my case, fairly rare. 1 For work: iMac mid-2010 of 27" - Core i7 870 - 6 GB DDR3 1333 MHz - ATI HD5670 - SSD 256 GB - HDD 2 TB - macOS High Sierra For Gaming: 34" Monitor - Ryzen 3600 - 32 GB DDR4 2400 - nVidia RTX2080 - SSD 1.25 TB - HDD 10 TB - Win10 Pro - TM HOTAS Cougar Mobile: iPad Pro 12.9" of 256 GB

I can't say when I've last looked for a solution to a problem on my end. Yes there are actual DCS bugs that need an ED fix that pop up, but I'll echo Rudel_chw that I rarely come on looking for solutions. 1

Tomas9970 Posted November 29 Posted November 29 (edited) The OP is obviously not very determined but to anyone who finds this afterward, I had this exact same issue when spawning in with the F-15E and A-10C II. Sometimes the crashing could be reduced by lowering the graphics setting but usually it just happened no matter what. After looking through the log files, I found a bunch of "not enough memory to load X" errors (which brought me to the settings reduction). At first it didn't make sense because DCS wasn't reaching any obvious memory limits on my PC but after I set a 16 GB pagefile, the issue completely disappeared. Specs: Ryzen 5 3600 32GB DDR4 3200 MHz RX 6700xt 12GB Now I can run pretty much max settings (Extreme draw distance, etc.) at 1080p with 60k preload but it makes me wonder whether or not I should upgrade to 64GB of RAM. I mean it's 60 dollars but at the same time, I don't see much of a point besides fully satisfying DCS. Edited November 29 by Tomas9970 Spellcheck 4

Coxy_99 Posted December 12 Posted December 12 This is just another issue ED ignore, They lie if they say they dont, ED will defend it, Deleting folders and files and page file sizes dont work, Because ive tried them, Its a scape goat, To the orignal OP i feel you, I run a monster of a setup, this includes 64GB RAM a 4090 to boot along with an 2 year old processor from intel, I to also get stuck on the pre-load screen and dcs does crash to desktop, My only advice is to wait and touch nothing dont even click the mouse, Mine can take 5mins to load in on multiplayer it will load, With older systems or less spec systems it will struggle. Maybe instead of releasing half maps they will work on the core.
