For future reference to all who might be running into the same issue, we will be pulling these boats.  They do not add to any gameplay value other than aesthetics at this time.  We will wait for the Vietnam War Vessels crew to start adding riverine units to their pack so it eliminates these issues.  Also glad to see some feedback on keeping ITJ on its current map.

I suggest to use mods which almost everybody uses, like the packs from CurrentHill.

System: HP Z2 Tower, Win11 24H2, i9-14900K, 64GB RAM, 8TB SSD (M2) + 18TB HDD (Sata), GeForce RTX4070 TI Super 16GB VRAM, Samsung Odyssey 57" curved monitor (main screen) + BenQ 32" UW3270 (secondary screen), VKB Gunfighter Ultimate MK4 + S-TECS Throttle

DCS: All terrains, allmost all modules, most user flyable mods - CA, WWII Assets

WHY do you feel WW2 map makes for a better base?  Please provide some objective observations.

The shortest answer is the airfield textures. As a canvas on which to paint, and as a place to come home to, I prefer them. They do feel more Jungle to me, and I find it easier to imagine seeing them decked out for heli and rough-field ops.

I also like the assets, the prevalence of footpaths over roads (the lack of tarmac in general appeals), the mix of settlement sizes, things like the marsh rather than quasi-rice-paddies down by where the S Jungle base is in ITJ etc...overall it feels like it's less work to get myself in the zone, and more things to play with once I am, and the whole island keeps that vibe. I just enjoy flying over it (as a vanilla flight from the ME) more, and have more mission-related ideas than on the modern version.

*But* I totally appreciate all the work needed to create an immersive flight environment has already been done in ITJ, with notable success. The above is solely a comparison between the two versions of the Marianas we got from ED.

As the talented @TeTeT said, there is zero wrong with ITJ as it is! Still, the question was asked which feels more Jungle and, out of the box, that's the WW2 version for me. It goes without saying that the most Jungle of all is ITJ!

Whether it's worth the extra work...I can't say. I'm blissfully ignorant of the real effort it took to get ITJ into its current state, likewise your guys' plans for where you'd like to go from here (if anywhere!). I'm just a lucky sod who gets to benefit from you guys sharing your hobby with the community! Thanks, as ever, for the hundreds of hours of joy, distraction, and occasional terror 🙂

Regarding dirt airfields and using jet aircraft on the ww2 map…. What about using Marsden matting for runway and parking areas over the dirt?  This could at a minimum allow A-4s and F-5s to operate as well as several AI types on the longer airfields and prop jobs could still operate from the shorter fields.  FYI, Chu Li used aluminum plating panels over compressed sand for their “beach resort” airfield.

Did have a quick test earlier, and A4s are definitely an option from a practical PoV: a decent combat load* and full internal fuel is doable out of Orote within acceptable pucker factor. Snug, but doable. Landing was also fine, despite the heavy fuel load.

i agree with u. The mariana ww2 make me feel more, like i said, in the previous posts, in the jungle. But a mini vietnam map without the A-4e and the F-4 Thunder is a lost of immersion.

About the vietnam assets i would like if currenthill can work on it, even release the pack outside the official path like is happening now. i think many of us are ready to pay for a vietnam high quality asset pack

Well, I am thankful to Currenthill for the Sheridan to fill out some armored cavalry troops while exploring scenarios integrating ground and air operations ala Vietnam jungle scouting.  The vegetation (jungle if you wish) on the WW2 map helps.
