Hightower91 Posted December 25, 2024 Posted December 25, 2024 (edited) Hi all, I observed that the CD REL button increases input on the directional pedals with each click, regardless of the trim option used on the cyclic. It functions similarly to using FFB or instant trim option for the pedals, which isn't available yet. I also experienced that the effect of the DAFCS Trim Switch up and down seems to be inverted?! Anyone else having problems? Edited December 25, 2024 by Hightower91 2

While the pedals are coupled with the cyclic, we will experience this problem. I found that the best way to fly the Chinook in the current state is to use the Force Release as little as possible, and controlling helo as a airplane, using the newly available trim hat. 11 hours ago, Hightower91 said: I also experienced that the effect of the DAFCS Trim Switch up and down seems to be inverted?! Anyone else having problems? No problem here. Maybe you have set the controls thinking of trim, inputting the UP position of the trim hat in game to a down position on your joystick. In order for it to work right you must set up to a up button and down to a down button. Also, I could not set the CD REL to a button of my own choosing. The only button the game accepted was the Default option. In my case, it set the CD REL to button 03, which is a badly positioned button that I rarely use. 1

Anyone else having problems? I have the same problems as you mate. If i press trim button it moves my pedals left or right. And also the new AFCS Hat Trim Up and Down is opposite. Surferfl7 Posted December 27, 2024 Posted December 27, 2024 Honestly how is there no info on something like this from ED? They change the entire function of the trim system and expect us to just figure it out? 5

ED Team Lord Vader Posted January 3 ED Team Posted January 3 Hey everyone. We understand that the trim for the anti-torque pedals isn't ideal for all. I've raised your concerns to the team, hopefully the trim options will be worked on in future updates. Thanks for your patience Regarding the AFCS switch, this is working correctly. If you take a look at the assignment description, UP or DOWN is related to the Switch Position, not aircraft behaviour. Just as in other aircraft, pressing the switch up will lower the nose and the pressing it down will do the opposite. This logic comes from the early aircraft trim wheels. If you moved the wheel forth or upwards, the nose would go down and vice-versa. Even today's airliners, like the Boeing 737, maintain this logic. 3 Esquadra 701 - DCS Portugal - Discord
Hightower91 Posted January 4 Author Posted January 4 Thanks for the reply. What I mean in regarding the AFCS switch is excatly what you describe. If I push the AFCS switch UP (which is of course switch position related) the nose of my aircraft comes UP and if you pushes the switch down my aircraft nose comes down. I have never experienced this way of trim in other aircrafts. I think I will just change my bindings the other way round for now. 1
isoko Posted February 4 Posted February 4 Hey everyone. I was suffering from the same problem with Chinook. I noticed the other day that the trim switches on other helicopters also did not work at all, and I was in contact with the ED technical team, and they solved the problem by disabling the Force Feedback check in the settings (Misc. tab). Surprisingly, the AFCS trim up/down on the Chinook, which was inverted, now works correctly as well. I encourage everyone suffering from the same problem to check the Force Feedback section. I hope your problem is solved. 1
ED Team Lord Vader Posted February 4 ED Team Posted February 4 Good information there, @isoko Thanks for sharing. 1 Esquadra 701 - DCS Portugal - Discord
Renko Posted February 5 Posted February 5 @Lord Vader May I strongly recommend one thing to ED? If you can pass it along to the team. Please please please, make that Force Feedback option in the MISC. tab to be disable by default. I have seen countless times users with various problems that were solved by disabling this option. Just 3 days ago there was a user had problems with the trimming of a helicopter. All fixed after disable that FFB option. It causes many problems and most of the time the user is not aware of it. They would be solved if that option was disabled by default. Maybe it would also be good to add a note warning on it, that if you activate it can cause problems if you do not have FFB hardware. 1 1
ED Team Lord Vader Posted February 6 ED Team Posted February 6 Thanks for the suggestion, @Renko I'll pass it to the team. Esquadra 701 - DCS Portugal - Discord
Hightower91 Posted February 7 Author Posted February 7 The FFB misc setting was already unchecked. Even a checked FFB misc setting doesn't have an impact for me. I also tried to delete all controls with a new rebinding, still failure. As well as a dcs client cleanup and repair, no solution for me at all.
ED Team Lord Vader Posted February 11 ED Team Posted February 11 @Hightower91 Can you post your bindings for the AFCS trim? These are mine, just in case: Mine are working as intended. Push the AFCS Trim up and the nose goes down, push the AFCS Trim down and the nose goes up. Have you tested the buttons in windows as well? Could you have an inverted Hat switch? Hightower91 Posted February 12 Author Posted February 12 (edited) @Lord Vader Hardware and bindings are supposed to be. Therefore I've checked all three the trim options in the special options tab again. I've tested the standart mode and instant trim mode which works perfectly fine. While I am using an unsprung dead stick, I use the no spring/no FFB mode, AFCS Trim UP and DOWN here are inverted. Edited February 12 by Hightower91
ED Team Lord Vader Posted February 12 ED Team Posted February 12 Hum... @Hightower91 Indeed it looks inverted with that trimmer option. I've raised this internally for analysis. Thanks. 1 Esquadra 701 - DCS Portugal - Discord
ED Team BIGNEWY Posted Monday at 12:23 PM ED Team Posted Monday at 12:23 PM Hi all, the team have checked this and it is working as it should. "Joystick Without Springs and FFB" means that you don't use a FFB joystick and you have no spring in your joystick. If you have this hardware option it makes it more difficult with AFCS enabled. Essentially If you trim up - neutral goes forward when the real stick holds the position and DASH "thinks" that the pilot's input has gone back, so it increases the helicopter's pitch. I think we need to ensure the controls indicator shows the trim position better, this may help make it clearer. Please ensure you are using the correct joystick option for your hardware. thank you 1 Forum rules - DCS Crashing?
