tacoman802 Posted December 29, 2024 Posted December 29, 2024 Hey Fight's On, Picked up The Four Horsemen with the Apache in the sale, really enjoyed the first couple of missions, but I've been consistently having a very odd issue in the campaign. DCS crashes when telling the CPG to slave the TADS to a specific location during an engagement. The game doesn't freeze, as when playing in VR, if I reset the view it is clear the mission is still running, but any input is blocked by the window stating it has crashed. In mission 2, it happens during the first engagement when telling George to slave the Hellfires to the APC next to the technical. The same happened in missions 1 and 3, when slaving the missile to an enemy unit (pressing George AI hat switch up). I'm not sure if this is campaign specific, a core issue with DCS or the Apache, or something to do with the recent Syria update, but the campaign has crashed 6 times now in the first 3 missions, and it's making it impossible to progress. I have attached the latest crash log from mission 2, hopefully there's a fix, the campaign has been awesome. dcs.log-20241229-084231.zip
spikenet Posted December 30, 2024 Posted December 30, 2024 (edited) I just updated yesterday to latest build and get this same consistent crash using George(cpg) on mission 6 approaching waypoint #2. Zero issues prior to the update. edit: I've added a thread to game crash here: https://forum.dcs.world/topic/366866-dcs-crashes-when-telling-the-cpg-to-slave-the-tads-to-a-specific-location-during-an-engagement/#comment-5577767 Edited December 31, 2024 by spikenet 2
sleighzy Posted January 1 Posted January 1 This is likely a duplicate of this issue which has been reported by a number of folk: Drop your logs on that one as well. 2 AMD 7800x3D, 4080Super, 64Gb DDR5 RAM, 4Tb NVMe M.2, Quest 2
spikenet Posted January 1 Posted January 1 Its strange as I played a few instant actions on syria map with no george problems..

Only occurred once, late into one of the missions of the MAD campaign (I had been slaving/unslaving fine within this mission prior to the crash). Heli Shed Posted January 2 Posted January 2 This is also happening on the basic missions - for me the Dam mission. Loads of crashes etc - full crash file, logs etc uploaded several times today / this evening. Very frustrating indeed. Come pay us a visit on YouTube - search for HELI SHED
Roosterfeet Posted January 3 Posted January 3 (edited) According to the thread linked above, it probably has something to do with late activation units in George's field of view. I was thinking about trying this campaign this weekend since the Apache is so much nicer to fly now. I might try with spotting dots on and do all the CPG work myself. Solution Florence201 Posted January 6 Solution Posted January 6 Thanks all. Definitely sounds like a core DCS issue, so reporting to them is the way forward. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Honez Posted January 11 Posted January 11 I see this crash on a regular basis with George. I thought it was mod related but it's not. I have tried creating a clean no mod mission and still get it happening. The crashes are not related to multiplayer or single. It happens with both modes. It's something they broke in the last patch. I keep hoping to see a fix released but this much be a bigger issue in the game now 1
Florence201 Posted January 13 Posted January 13 I've reported it internally to ED also [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Florence201 Posted January 15 Posted January 15 Hopefully fixed in the next DCS release. Thanks for reporting this team 2 [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Roosterfeet Posted January 15 Posted January 15 For what it's worth, I've completed the first 5 missions by seat switching instead of using George to target and fire weapons. It's probably harder that way but it works. It's a very good campaign. 1 5800x3D, rtx4070, Quest3 (sometimes)

Honez Posted January 20 Posted January 20 I can't believe ED is making us wait this long and has not done a hot fix to address the issues on this thread and the CTD that is going on when you slave George to a target. This module is virtually unplayable for me now.
Flappie Posted January 20 Posted January 20 (edited) @Honez This should be fixed with today's update. Please ping me if it's not. Edited January 20 by Flappie 1 ---
Honez Posted January 21 Posted January 21 It never fails that I mention it and it patches the same day. Thanks!
tacoman802 Posted January 22 Author Posted January 22 Can confirm it’s fixed with the latest update. Mission 2 ran smoothly without issue, very well done Apache mission. Thank you everyone, enjoy the campaign!
