Just upgraded my CPU motherboard and RAM and a clean w11 install. DLSS 4 is looking better. Less ghosting against the ground. Also updated to today's release of NVIDIA driver so not sure if it's this or hardware!?

Likely w11 install + new drivers. Or you had frame time issues with old hardware which are gone now.

Does DLSS work better on W11?

Might be a frame time issue as I am using QVFR so it could have been spikes of CPU peaking!? Some of the cores were pushing 80% plus with my 5800x3d. I just upgraded to a 9800x3d. All cores are now about 40% max. Now I'm seriously limited by my GPU. 5070ti hopefully arriving the middle of next week.

I meant the factor of new windows. Don't have info on W10 Vs W11 for DLSS4. W10 for me is not an option though because of RTX HDR I use for lot's of other things.

Why did you go for it instead of a used 4080 super? Nothing decent available on the 2nd hand market? It's basically the same card.

I managed to get a 5070ti at a decent price close to MSRP so went for that. The second hand 4080 market is inflated too. I was also considering a 9070xt.

Food for thought:

TLDR: disable power consumption monitoring in MSI Afterburner (or other similar monitoring tools). Even without OSD it gets monitored by default in Afterburner. Power consumption monitoring via MSI Afterburner causes micro stutter.

I was using Preset K and noticed the sharpness slightly reduced, switched to Preset J and it seems the clarity and sharpness are better. Can anyone confirm this?

I had the same experience and currently using J. I think with future drivers updates this can still change back and forth though.

  1. Install the latest Nvidia driver (don't install the Nvidia app)
  2. Install the latest Nvidia Profile Inspector (https://github.com/Orbmu2k/nvidiaProfileInspector)
  3. Select the Digital Combat Simulator: Black Shark profile in the dropdown and then in the Common section enable DLSS - Enable DLL Override and set the DLSS - Forced Preset Letter to Always use latest (the latest is K, so try that and J which are the most common at the moment to see which one you prefer)

To tell if it's working (although you should see a notable difference anyway):

  1. Download and unpack DLSSTweaks (https://www.nexusmods.com/site/mods/550)
  2. No need to copy any files into DCS, just run the DLSSTweaksConfig.exe file
  3. At the bottom of it set the GlobalHudOverride to Enable (All DLLs) and then click Save
  4. Start DCS and jump in a plane. Some people say they only see it in 2D but there should be a hud overlay at the bottom left of the screen. Verify the DLSS version, starts with 310., and that the preset is K or J (whatever you chose to use).

If you install a newer Nvidia driver later confirm in NVPI that it kept your settings, you may need to reapply them again.

When using DLSSTweaks it says that I'm running DLSS 3 with Preset K in the HUD... Should it be saying I'm running DLSS 4?

Thx!

You should be running the latest version which is 3.10.2. Yes. I know this is confusing. By all logic it should be 4.xx etc. !?!

Does anyone know why I'm not seeing any of the DLSS 'Force' or 'enable' commands in the common section of the profile inspector? I'm using the 572.70 Nvidia driver and the common section shown is from the DCS Black Shark profile.

I think DLSS does not work on GTX cards, which your signature shows?

Correct. One needs an RTX card.

Just had an issue with NVIDIA driver (572.70) and NVPI. I could not change the preset and the latest DLSS version. I rolled back to 572.60 and everything was ok.

Same for me with the 572.70 driver, the setting in NVPI displayed an error and I had to redo it each time I started the program.
With the 572.60 driver, the setting in NVPI no longer displays an error and remains memorized.
So for me, 572.60 is the best for now.🤔👍

I tried preset J and K (DLAA), both looks very crisp in general, except ghosting pretty bad in F4 TV screen (with either AGM45 or Pave spike). Did a clean install of the latest Nvidia driver and ghosting in TV screen was gone but turns out it reset the preset to default (C)... did a few more test and ended up with E to keep a non-smeared TV screen.

Anyone else having similar issue?

I've done a lot of testing with this, and I personally prefer preset E because on my 3090, in J and K modes, it eats up frames and also makes the image look less contrasted. Perhaps those latter modes would work better on more advanced graphics cards, but not for me.

what about TV view in F4 or other targetting pod image when you pan around? i got full of smear. i am using 4090 btw, also think J and K eats more frame, but do feel more crisp overall
