for about 1.5 years, in an update of the Huey, the fuel consumption was changed and also the flight pattern was touched. The helicopter is now too reactive, even when fully loaded (armament and fuel) the aircraft takes off and flies too fast. Also in the hover, it requires too much left pedal. Reading online, watching various UH-1H videos on youtube and also talking to real pilots, all confirmed that the current flight model of the huey is wrong. It requires too much left pedal and is too powerful currently.
In the various virtual groups, we all edit the .lua file named FM, setting from “TRUE” to “FALSE” in order to return to the old flight model which was much better.

Please check and have the flight model analyzed by some real Huey helicopter pilot (so he can confirm the figure), also check the manuals where the flight data and performance are present.
This is a bug. I hope it will be reported and corrected or at least restored to the old flight model.

First procedure after every patch is this for me:
Try it, it doesn't break integrity check and makes the FM plausible again.

Yes that's right, I and other guys in the group also always perform this modification. ED could set it to default, pending work on a resolving patch.

They are not fixing the loooong VRS bug where the Huey sudenly and extremelly violently decides to became a rock and the rotors stop working as such ... you thing they will fix that FM thing?

i cant auto rotate for 1.5 years. taking off feels weird haven't touched it for a while, too much left pedal.

we need some sme to test it, it's kinda weird that the huey is flying faster than an apache even with rockets @125~130 kts.

I cant thank you enought for this...

I tried and it feels so nice.. dont know if its more or less realistic.. but the helicopter feels much better.. performance seem to be correct.. max torque and max cont temp are close and i need to keep an eye on both while with the new flight model its allways lower and temp is not a problem..  also with the old FM the cruise speed is arround 100 to 110ish k wich is what i read everywhere the 205/UH-1H is suposed to be... while the new FM would easily go over 130 knots horizontally and into RBS ...

Old FM is way better behaved and since i switched to the old FM i havent VRS even once .. its easier to land, needs way less left pedal..  yes its way more underpower but wont go into VRS every time you look at the collective..

Thanks because switching to old FM has dramatically improved this helicopter to me..its so much a joy to fly even despite feeling like 2/3 of the new FM power

I love the new flight model. I never get into VRS or RBS with it. For me it's much easier to fly. I do have pedals, collective and FFB stick though. But, I won't the FM to be correct.

I would not go as far as to say I "love" the new flight model, but I have been using it since they made the change. It took some getting used to, but I am not sure I would like to be forced to roll back to the old flight model either. It has been a long while since I have flown the original, but I remember having issues with even getting airborn while carrying weapons.

There is something definitely something off about the new model though. As stated, the anti-torque pedal/tail rotor is far to anemic IMO, and it does indeed seem to hit very high speed rather quickly.

I am not a Huey pilot though. I have no idea which FM is closer to the real thing, but I suspect it is somewhere in the middle.

Not a huey pilot either .. but the old feels much more natural and smoother somehow.. and also the torque vs temp vs actual cruise speed seem on point with the reported 205/UH-1H figures (cruise speeds arround 100-110k)

But even ignoring all that the biggest issue (apart from the horribly VRS thing) i can tell is just from seeing a LOT of Huey videos how much left pedal the pilot uses on take off and hover.. and its not even 1/3 of what needs to be used with the new flight model.. that could contribute for the twitchiness of new FM
