I used the search function, but for some reason, there hasn't been a wishlist post about it already.

Clouds need to impair or block AIs vision and sensors (where applicable)

Clouds need to impair or block IR missile sensors (to a realistic extend)

This is of course extremely important for dogfighting, but it's equally so when dealing with IR SAMs. Currently IR SAMs are "incompatible" with low visibility A-G missions, because they can just snipe aircraft through thick clouds, giving the pilot no chance to react.

This is in dire need for improvements. It should be high on ED's priority list imho.

Hi,

this is already planned for the future, clouds will block AI sensors where applicable in a future update. We have no ETA for this however, when we are ready to share news we will let you all know.

thank you

Yes I would think clouds are an impediment to Electro Optical Sensors.

They surely are. Even if they were substantially less affected than unaided human vision (i assume that some sensors can see through clouds to some extend, depending on sampled wavelength), on most IR SAM platforms the operator would still need to find the target before locking the missile. The radar of SA-13 "Gopher" for example is only for ranging. The operator still needs to acquire the target visually.

@BIGNEWY Thanks for the reply. That's good to know i guess. I assume that sight blocking for Ai aircraft is tied to an deeper AI overhaul, but perhaps sight blocking for AAA and SAM had less dependencies and could be implemented quicker.

I understand that DCS is a complex simulator, and the team is working on numerous priorities, but this issue has lingered for too long without a clear resolution or timeline. For a WWII simulator, where clouds should force tactical decisions (e.g., diving through cloud cover or delaying attacks), this feels like a critical oversight. Can we please get an update on whether this is being addressed in upcoming patches? How many years does it take?

Being a combat simulator this shouldn't be a priority but a core feature implemented long time ago...

To be fair, as far as I know. No other combat simulators have this feature either. AI had always been able to do a Souron and their gaze pierce cloud and flesh.

Not to compare but yeah they can.
