sirrah Posted February 25 Posted February 25 I purchased this module yesterday and in the process of immersing myself. So far I'm amazed on all the little details. Anyways, to the point: Sorry if asked before (did a quick forum search without desired results) Is there a way to set the default F1 cockpit view a bit further backwards and save it in that position? (without influencing default view positions of other DCS modules) I'm playing in VR and when I recenter my view, it is too far forward (too close to the instument panel). I'm pretty much sitting on the stick... ouchy! I only have this issue in the Heatblur modules I own (F-4 and F-14) System specs: i7-8700K @stock speed - GTX 1080TI @ stock speed - AsRock Extreme4 Z370 - 32GB DDR4 @3GHz- 500GB SSD - 2TB nvme - 650W PSU HP Reverb G1 v2 - Saitek Pro pedals - TM Warthog HOTAS - TM F/A-18 Grip - TM Cougar HOTAS (NN-Dan mod) & (throttle standalone mod) - VIRPIL VPC Rotor TCS Plus with ALPHA-L grip - Pointctrl & aux banks <-- must have for VR users!! - Andre's SimShaker Jetpad - Fully adjustable DIY playseat - VA+VAICOM - Realsimulator FSSB-R3 ~ That nuke might not have been the best of ideas, Sir... the enemy is furious ~ GUMMBAH
speed-of-heat Posted February 25 Posted February 25 so i think i asked this question regarding the F-14 when i first got it, and it's sort of meant to feel like that... but if you want to change it then you can edit snapviews.lua's VR setting for the specific aircraft: you may need to fiddle with it to get it right for you , but look for the Default VR view, which is normally number 14) SYSTEM SPECS: Hardware AMD 9800X3D, 64Gb RAM, 4090 FE, Virpil T50CM3 Throttle, WinWIng Orion 2 & F-16EX + MFG Crosswinds V2, Varjo Aero SOFTWARE: Microsoft Windows 11, VoiceAttack & VAICOM PRO YOUTUBE CHANNEL: @speed-of-heat

The instruments would probably feel quite far forward irl. Now that I picked up the F-4, I thought I'd ask around if there's an easy and more permanent method. ORboarder Posted February 27 Posted February 27 Move your view backwards to where you want it, using I think right ctrl + right shift + / on the numpad. When you have it where you want it hit right alt + numpad 0 this will save your default view position under the snapviews in your saved game. You can delete this file to reset if you ever need to 1

MagicSlave Posted February 28 Posted February 28 I adjust my head position with the forward/aft up/down commands until my head is aligned with the pilot body in VR. Feels like adjusting the seat before flight. The correct head position in VR is rather different than the default flat screen view position.Sent from my FP4 using Tapatalk

I am fairly sure it is aircraft dependent and it saves these default views in a file called snapviews.Lua in your save games
mmaclauchlan Posted March 5 Posted March 5 When I open the snapviews file it only has the FlamingCliffs type aircraft. F14, F4, F18, etc. aren't listed within that document. Mags Quest 2, VKB controls, MFG Crosswinds
Art-J Posted March 5 Posted March 5 (edited) ^ They won't appear until you take a seat in the cockpit and use snapview key command for the first time (RAlt+Num0 ? Or sth like that, I don't remember, you'll have to google around). Then, the relevant aircraft section should appear in snapviews.lua file. For example, the Phantom section will begin with line: SnapViews["F-4E-45MC"] = {. Mind you, we're talking about snapviews.lua file located in your Saved Games/DCS/Config/View folder, not the one in actual game folder. That did the trick - oddly, I just did it in the Phantom, and now ALL of my jets are showing up in the lua. Awesome! 1 Mags Quest 2, VKB controls, MFG Crosswinds
