DmitriKozlowsky Posted March 11 Posted March 11 IMHO DLSS is unsuitable for high fidelity flight sims, aka DLSS kind of s_____ DLSS, in DCS, with 3070Ti makes everything looks blurry, kind of blocky , at pixel level, and reduces overall vision fidelity. Especcialy with regard to ground target spotting. Clouds and mountains in distance look like they have visible JPG artifacting. HUD looks 'weird' Perhaps, DLSS , is good for AAA 3rd and 1st person shooters, and perhaps sports, but not for flight sims. Most definitely not DCS. I would set DLSS to Performance or Ultra Performance. I don't really get FPS boost, if I just leave it off. I am not putting this on ED. I see similar issues, even worse, with X-Plane. 1

Mr_sukebe Posted March 11 Posted March 11 By DLSS, what do you mean by mean? DLSS now contains: - Upsampling - Anti-aliasing - frame gen - multi frame gen 1 7800x3d, 5080, 64GB, PCIE5 SSD - Oculus Pro - Moza (AB9), Virpil (Alpha, CM3, CM1 and CM2), WW (TOP and CP), TM (MFDs, Pendular Rudder), Tek Creations (F18 panel), Total Controls (Apache MFD), Jetseat

DLSS now contains: - Upsampling - Anti-aliasing - frame gen - multi frame gen I go by result. I see obvious visual degradation. Scene blurring, JPG like artifacts. Weird blockiness and tearing on distance clouds and terrain. Blurry instrument marking, requiring zoom in to read. When I set DLSS to Performance or Ultra Performance. I don't really see FPS improvement by noticeable amount. Going by my worst performing module , which is AH-64D. My best FPS mods are AV-8B and Mirage 2000C. In neither do I see visually noticeable FPS gains. I see a little bit by diagnostic overlay. Visual degradation is not worth it, so I leave DLSS and anti-aliasing OFF. Mr_sukebe Posted March 11 Posted March 11 It would help if we knew which part of DLSS you’re using. At the moment, it’s like saying that my Ford car is unreliable. 1 7800x3d, 5080, 64GB, PCIE5 SSD - Oculus Pro - Moza (AB9), Virpil (Alpha, CM3, CM1 and CM2), WW (TOP and CP), TM (MFDs, Pendular Rudder), Tek Creations (F18 panel), Total Controls (Apache MFD), Jetseat
MiG21bisFishbedL Posted March 11 Posted March 11 By and large, I agree. But DLAA works pretty well. It's pretty sharp image wise and not much ghosting. 1 Reformers hate him! This one weird trick found by a bush pilot will make gunfighter obsessed old farts angry at your multi-role carrier deck line up!

There are , known to me, no other DLSS components. I don't have NVidia App. In Nvidia Control MFAA is OFF. FXAA is OFF. DLSS is not unreliable. I have no stability issues. It just does not look good.
rob10 Posted March 12 Posted March 12 Yes, DLSS isn't a good option if you have a higher end system. You can't get something for nothing so the tradeoff is some ghosting or less clarity in return for higher FPS and potentially higher resolution settings. For people flying in VR a lot of them are happy with the tradeoffs. DLAA can be turned on independently of DLSS. DLSS does not need to be activated to have DLAA turned on.

I don't want DLAA ON. I want it OFF. With DLSS it is ON and cannot be disabled. To me DCS looks better without any kind of anti-aliasing. It plays better, looks crisper, and ground targets are 'easier'(still difficult ) to spot. I use neutral 2 dot option. Red and blue pixels feels to much of a cheat. Without a darker neutral dot, ground targets are downright way too difficult to spot.
Mr_sukebe Posted March 12 Posted March 12 Just turn DLSS off. DLAA is anti-aliasing, and can be used without the upscaling of DLSS. I'd personally recommend that you disable DLSS and at least try DLAA. If you don't like it, THEN disable it. 1 7800x3d, 5080, 64GB, PCIE5 SSD - Oculus Pro - Moza (AB9), Virpil (Alpha, CM3, CM1 and CM2), WW (TOP and CP), TM (MFDs, Pendular Rudder), Tek Creations (F18 panel), Total Controls (Apache MFD), Jetseat

Mr_sukebe Posted March 12 Posted March 12 Have you tried the updated options in DLSS, eg preset K? if not, there’s a thread on how to configure it. 1 7800x3d, 5080, 64GB, PCIE5 SSD - Oculus Pro - Moza (AB9), Virpil (Alpha, CM3, CM1 and CM2), WW (TOP and CP), TM (MFDs, Pendular Rudder), Tek Creations (F18 panel), Total Controls (Apache MFD), Jetseat
