dggoofy Posted May 26 Author Posted May 26 OK dear fellows, Just a quick update on my upcoming Mi-24 campaign set in Afghanistan. As with all my previous campaigns, this one will be story-driven and supported with plenty of documentation—approach charts, briefings, and more. And of course, a must for me: full voice-over! Thanks to AI, voice quality and realism are getting better and better. For authenticity, all dialogues are in Russian with English subtitles. That said, a big apology to all native Russian speakers—while I do speak some Russian, my level isn't high enough to ensure 100% accurate dialogue. Sorry about that! Sure, I could try to find native Russian speakers to help, which would be awesome—but it would also take much more time to finish the campaign. And since it’s a free one... As of today, I’ve written 11 missions. The campaign spans about 10 days. 8 missions are ready, and 5 have been fully tested and (hopefully!) are bug-free. Cheers null 4 5
zeufman Posted May 29 Posted May 29 I enjoyed the Mi-8 campaign and the Mirage F-1 campaign. I can't wait to play this one. Courage à toi 1
T.Power Posted May 29 Posted May 29 My favourite module and map, win win. 1 "For many the glass is half empty whilst for others it is half full, but for some, the milk is sour." - Unknown French Philosopher
dggoofy Posted June 12 Author Posted June 12 WWP ? Work Well in Progress 10 missions done. Last 11th one in built. null"You are Igor Ivanovich, captain of the 302e OVE - 302nd Independent Attack Helicopter Squadron (302-я отдельная вертолётная эскадрилья). Along with your co-pilot, Piotr Petrovich, you are among the first squadron to land in Afghanistan. It is Monday, December 24, 1979. 3:00 AM. The Soviet invasion is underway!" This campaign, heavily based on real events, recreates some of the Mi-24 missions between their arrival in Bagram on December 24, 1979, and the capture of Jalalabad in January 1980. Merci / Thank you for you support! Release ? July. 3
Hip Hind Posted June 12 Posted June 12 В 26.04.2025 в 13:20, dggoofy сказал: ... that the Mi-24s were the D variant and not the P... The Mi-24P began appearing in Afghanistan starting in 1985, replacing the Mi-24V, which frequently suffered failures of the YakB-12.7 machine gun.
dggoofy Posted June 12 Author Posted June 12 In DCS, compromises are often necessary. For instance, the Afghanistan map represents the 2000s era, which is very different from 1979. At that time, there were no night vision goggles, no Stinger missiles, and so on. However, if one is looking for a bit of enjoyment, some historical flexibility must be accepted. Of course, no one is obligated to play my campaigns. Finally, I offer a 'satisfaction guaranteed or refund' policy. 3
Wizz Posted June 22 Posted June 22 Looking forward to this! Any updates, or insights you can provide ahead of the July release? Great job! 2

Raven (Elysian Angel) Posted July 7 Posted July 7 Superb news! I recently started playing some older campaigns converted to Mi-24 but they are so full of bugs it's not a smooth experience. Sunbather Posted July 7 Posted July 7 (edited) This couldn't release at a better time. I've just completed my training syllabus for the Mi-24P (the usual mix of official training missions, instant action shootouts, perusing the manual, googling random problems I have) and successfully flew the first mission of the Outpost campaign but I am even more eager to finally play the Hind on the Afghanistan map. Gonna press F5 over on the User Files a lot now. Edited July 7 by Sunbather 1 1 F-16C || F/A-18C || A-10C || F-4E || Mig-21bis || M-2000C Syria -- Kola
