EnriquePBArt Posted Saturday at 08:24 PM Posted Saturday at 08:24 PM (edited) My name is Enrique, I’m a 3D artist with experience in visualization and game development, and I’d like to introduce a personal project I’ve been working on: the Fokker Dr.I Triplane, a highly detailed and historically faithful recreation of this legendary aircraft for DCS World, currently in development as a future free mod. The goal of this project is to pay tribute to aviation history by bringing to life one of the most iconic fighters of World War I, famously flown by the Red Baron. I’m focusing on historical accuracy and professional-quality modeling and texturing to ensure an immersive experience. The mod is still in progress, but I plan to share regular updates. I’d really appreciate any feedback from the community, especially from those with experience in historical mods or an interest in WWI aviation. The gauge textures are temporary, the entire cockpit will be fully interactive." Thanks for the warm welcome to the forum—I'm open to suggestions and collaboration. For more pictures of this project: https://www.artstation.com/artwork/JvXOYa Best regards. Enrique Edited Saturday at 08:26 PM by EnriquePBArt 35

EnriquePBArt Posted Sunday at 11:09 AM Author Posted Sunday at 11:09 AM Thanks a lot! I'm really glad you like it. I’ll keep updating the post as the project progresses — there’s a lot more coming soon! 1
t_hedlund Posted Sunday at 01:24 PM Posted Sunday at 01:24 PM That looks amazing. 1 www.tomhedlund.com Modules: A-10C, A-10CII. F-16, AV8B, F-5E, F-14, F/A-18C, P-51, BF-109, F-86, FC3, Ka-50, UH-1H, Mig-15, Mig-21, YAK-52, L-39. Maps: NTTR, PG, Normandy. Syria... Others: Super Carrier, WWII Asset Pack
KomandorAdam Posted Sunday at 01:57 PM Posted Sunday at 01:57 PM The body of the model looks great, but definitely change the canvas textures. The wings were only plywood in the front part, the rest of the wing covering is canvas. And on yours they look like a varnished piano or marble. I keep my fingers crossed for the project, don't give up.
AndyJWest Posted Sunday at 02:12 PM Posted Sunday at 02:12 PM A nice start, but a few comments: The way the canvas curves inwards between the wing ribs is grossly exaggerated: take a look at photographs. I hope that is WIP. The position of that compass makes no sense, since it would have to be horizontal to work. Take care not to get misled by replicas: they can be substantially different in construction, and simply wrong in minor details. When it comes to flight modelling, there's a flight simmer who owns and flies a DR1 replica powered by a genuine rotary engine, who might possibly be able to help out. I'd have to check with him first before giving further detail. 3
skywalker22 Posted Sunday at 04:44 PM Posted Sunday at 04:44 PM From how many polys is it made? Looks very details and very impresive as well 1
EnriquePBArt Posted Sunday at 05:35 PM Author Posted Sunday at 05:35 PM Thank you very much for your comments, I sincerely appreciate the corrections you are mentioning to me, this really helps to follow the right path and to be able to make a good mod that we can all enjoy . I promise I will put all my effort into improving it and as I make progress I will keep posting new screenshots . Best regards and a hug to all of you. hace 50 minutos, skywalker22 dijo: From how many polys is it made? I'm currently working on the different versions I need to make for the simulator, with their LODs, etc. hace 3 horas, AndyJWest dijo: A nice start, but a few comments: The way the canvas curves inwards between the wing ribs is grossly exaggerated: take a look at photographs. I'd have to check with him first before giving further detail. Of course, I take that into account and thank you very much for telling me. It's difficult to find a version that's faithful to the original, as there are many heavily modified replicas. As for the textures, I need to retexture everything. As I was saying, thank you very much for your corrections—they help me improve and become more detail-oriented. 5
Mike Force Team Posted Sunday at 06:14 PM Posted Sunday at 06:14 PM @EnriquePBArt Impressive 3D artwork. If you could create a cold war aircraft mod or full-fidelty module, then DCS would be your playground. Thanks for sharing. Mike Force Team 1

I'm really glad about the warm reception I'm getting from all of you. The Fokker DR-1 is one of my favorite aircraft, and that's why I decided to bring it into DCS. If everything goes well with this model, I’d love to keep creating more advanced modules for the simulator.

EnriquePBArt Posted Monday at 04:29 PM Author Posted Monday at 04:29 PM (edited) Hi guys, I've been working on the cockpit today. Tomorrow I'll start moving the gauges and compass, removing that modern seat and installing an older wooden one. I'll get everything ready to have the model ready for retopology and then output the low-poly model. I've separated the aircraft files into two, as indicated in the manual. One is the cockpit, and the other is the rest of the aircraft. Right now, I'm completely alone on this project, so please be patient as I have to juggle it with my other job (I'm starting a video game studio). Greetings, everyone.
