3D Scanning the F/A-18 Cockpit

I wanted to ask if someone knows if Eagle Dynamics will do a cockpit update someday. I mean not just textures, but also a update on the 3d model because it gets a little dated when compared to a cockpit like from the newer A-10C II.

And as Eagle Dynamics did a laser scan of the MiG-29 Cockpit, maybe they could do a laser scan of the F/A-18C too. I also would pay for it, like i did for the A-10C II update and Black Shark 2 and 3 Updates

Would you truly enjoy a sim more if it has a slightly more precise 3d cockpit?

.. honestly for me it wouldn’t mean much, when the C II came out I could hardly notice the 3d model difference , while in comparison the texture quality difference was much more noticeable.

Oh the Hornet could definitely do with an updated model and cockpit on the level with the newer modules. It’s sad that by the time a module gets finished it’s ready for a refresh because it’s so dated by that point.

In 2D there is very little difference between the Hornet cockpit and more modern ones, imho.

But my first experience in VR in the Hornet already showed the cockpit's flaws right away.

E.g. the UFC's corners and edges are geometrically "perfect". The whole UFC is perfectly flat. This feels unrealistic.

Even the screw heads on the UFC are flat and you recognise them as textures only on the first sight.

Same with the fuel/engine display.

Don't get me wrong, the Hornet is my favourite module. There is no other module I have used as much.

I even see advantages in not updating the cockpit for users with older/slower hardware.

But the 3D model of the Hornet's cockpit is obviously not at the level of the modern or update modules in DCS anymore.

So I get the point of OP, and understand why people ask whether ED is planing to update their "best seller module".

Thank you very much, what you are discribing is exactly what i mean. I also fly in VR and the very flat UFC and the flat screw heads are very noticable.

And because the F/A-18 is the most versatile plane in DCS I fly it the most. And all the time i m looking around in the cockpit of the F-18 i see how it is lacking compared to the A-10C II.
