speed-of-heat Posted May 23 Posted May 23 it's difficult to say, if i am honest, a lot will depend on what headset you are running... and what CPU you are pairing it with ... the specs in isolation don't tell enough to be useful, and i would suggest waiting until we have some independent bench tests before trying to draw any conclusions 1 SYSTEM SPECS: Hardware AMD 9800X3D, 64Gb RAM, 4090 FE, Virpil T50CM3 Throttle, WinWIng Orion 2 & F-16EX + MFG Crosswinds V2, Varjo Aero SOFTWARE: Microsoft Windows 11, VoiceAttack & VAICOM PRO YOUTUBE CHANNEL: @speed-of-heat
AngleOff66 Posted May 23 Author Posted May 23 Thanks and fair points. HMD will be whatever I can get used. I will keep an eye out for the reviews. Back to pc partpicker for me. HA!
LucShep Posted May 23 Posted May 23 (edited) I concurr with @speed-of-heat. That said, if speculating on specs alone (TPU's GPU database), performance should be slightly better than the current RX 7700XT 12GB, and the new RTX 5060Ti 16GB. Which means it will not be a recomendable GPU for DCS VR - something more powerful (and preferentially Nvidia) is recommended to make it satisfying. But, if using a monitor, should be a tremendous 1080P and decent 1440P performer (also thanks to FSR4) at a good price, if the base $349 MSRP is practiced. wormeaten Posted May 31 Posted May 31 Every modern GPU could run VR only depend on what resolution. Consider this for example Q3 in VD on Godlike is looking in VR like 1080p 27" monitor. I'm talking now about pixel density and impression you got. With 9060XT you will probably running it on High preset in VR. That is lower resolution of rendering so pixels will be more noticeable like for example you are reducing resolution on 1080p monitor to increase in game performances. Also VR is compromise so level of details and resolution combine with Hz. Run at 72Hz with motion reprojection on you will need 36FPS. In VR we are not looking at average but minimum FPS. FPS shouldn't drop below 36 to keep it smooth. 9060XT in VR is doable, it is like 3080, 6800XT, 4070 or 7700XT. But don't expect too much, have in mind low budget equal low expectation. 1 1
Nightdare Posted May 31 Posted May 31 I managed to run my HP G2 (90hz) at those FPS consistently on most MP maps with 13600K, 3060ti, 64 Gb ram PD somewhere at 1.3, using Open XR, Turbo on. no reprojection, some downsampling and foveated rendering, DCS eyecandy settings roughly at half Fidelity still being very decent, though clear visual identification in warbirds was only possible at closer range than I found practical Mind you, this was prior to me having chopper modules, where ground detail was less required, so I never really taxed the system for that 1 Intel I5 13600k / AsRock Z790 Steel Legend / MSI 4080s 16G Gaming X Slim / Kingston Fury DDR5 5600 64Gb / Adata 960 Max / HP Reverb G2 v2 Virpil MT50 Mongoost T50 Throttle, T50cm Base & Grip, VFX Grip, ACE Interceptor Rudder Pedals w. damper / WinWing Orion2 18, 18 UFC & HUD, PTO2, 2x MFD1 / Logitech Flight Panel / VKB SEM V / 2x DIY Button Box

Not meaning to start anything, I was just wondering. It is very difficult to give an answer on this until to 9060xt is released. If it is similar to the 4070 then yes you should get a reasonable performance but you will likely need to use fixed foveated rendering (QVFR). However no DLSS 4 so you will need to rely on MSAA which is resource intensive. The 5070ti is a good option if your budget can stretch to that, and you can get hold of one at MSRP. Or maybe a 5070 but that only has 12GB VRAM. That said, I only had 12GB with my old 4070 and I never had any major VRAM issues. So far with my 5080 VRAM use has not gone above about 11 GB. 1 9800x3d - rtx5080 FE - 64Gb RAM 6000MHz - 2Tb NVME - Quest Pro (previous rift s and Pico 4). Flummi Posted Monday at 08:28 PM Posted Monday at 08:28 PM From my point of view I wouels doubt that a RX9060XT will be sufficient for VR. Because of my own experience I say that a RX9070XT is a minimum! 1 PC: Intel Core i7-12700K| Gigabyte Z690 Gaming X DDR4| 2x 32GB DDR4 Kingston Fury Beast (KF436C18BBAK2/64)| XFX Mercury Radeon RX 9070 XT OC Gaming Edition| 4x SSD-Drive| 3x HDD-Drive| Cougar Panzer Max| custom water cooling| Artix Linux| Windows 11 Gear: Meta Quest 3| Thrustmaster Warthog HOTAS| MFG Crosswind v2

Aapje Posted Wednesday at 01:02 PM Posted Wednesday at 01:02 PM So it looks like my prediction was spot on. Since people have been using a 4070 with decent results in DCS VR, this card should perform well enough if you manage your expectations. 1

Qcumber Posted Thursday at 05:26 AM Posted Thursday at 05:26 AM The Techpowerup review puts the 9060xt on a par with the 4060ti and 5060ti with about 80% of the 4070 performance at 4k (39fps vs 50fps). https://www.techpowerup.com/review/asus-radeon-rx-9060-xt-prime-oc-16-gb/31.html 1 9800x3d - rtx5080 FE - 64Gb RAM 6000MHz - 2Tb NVME - Quest Pro (previous rift s and Pico 4).
