Giggex Posted June 22 Posted June 22 After last update, the Mosquito sounds the undercarriage horn since the start of the mission, in any configuration: cold and dark cockpit, start in the air, start at runway. Quite annoying. Only unofficial Mod installed: Community A-4E and Hercules. Using MT. 4
skybaby68 Posted June 22 Posted June 22 Yep same here. The noise is insane after a few mins. The best WW2 bird of DCS currently unflyable. Tried disabling all mods, tried at cold start, hot start, no difference & seemingly no way to rid of it. 3 i9 14900K - ROG Maximus Z790 Hero - GIGABYTE GeForce RTX 4090 - 64GB Kingston Fury Beast DDR5 XMP - Samsung 4TB SSD - Pimax Crystal - Thrustmaster Warthog Throttle & Joystick - VirPil AH-64D Grip - Thrustmaster TPR Pendular Rudder Pedals
Grundar Posted June 22 Posted June 22 No mods at all here, default install. Under carriage horn non-stop. 1
Bozon Posted June 22 Posted June 22 Anyone know the name of the sound file with the horn sound? If I find it I’ll replace it with silence. 1 “Mosquitoes fly, but flies don’t Mosquito” :pilotfly: - Geoffrey de Havilland. ... well, he could have said it!
Prorok Posted June 22 Posted June 22 Also I can affirm non-stop horn sound in C&D start, hot start, start in air. C&D start the horn sound will work as it must only after take off, when you gear up and throttle to idle position then in needed position 1 1 [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
No.401_Wolverine Posted June 22 Posted June 22 Another confirmation of issue here. You can get it to turn off if you get airborne and then 0 the throttles and back up, but good luck getting airborne and still being sane enough at that stage to remember. 2
Ghost79 Posted June 22 Posted June 22 Even after a fix for the horn being constantly 'on'. I'd like to see an option to disable it completely, very annoying sound. 1 Youtube channel @Flightenvy680
Giggex Posted June 23 Author Posted June 23 I do confirm that a good temporary solution is to take-off, retract the undercarriage and put throttles to idle, then to needed setting. The horn works as intended after this so far. But well, this is not really pleasant, especially if you have to go through the whole start-up procedure with that buzz in the ears. So, yes, let's hope that soon we'll have a thorough solution. 1 1
Slippa Posted June 24 Posted June 24 Came here to whinge about this too. I already have enough tinnitus thanks. I bailed out of my Mossie by the time I got in the air as I was in danger of having a nervous breakdown or something. Wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee for ten minutes isn’t doing it for me really. Get this fixed quick for gods sake. Wish they’d take more care with our Mossies. and it’s about time we had our wipers done while they’re at it, please. 1
Raptorattacker Posted June 24 Posted June 24 For ANY attention you need to attach files to the complaint otherwise NOTHING will get done. There are problems with the undercarriage of all three of the WW2 modules with the 'enhaced suspension' that have been logged. Let's hope thing gets done about it PLEASE... 1
Slippa Posted June 24 Posted June 24 Came back as it just occurred to me that ED might be unaware of it. @BIGNEWY, @NineLine, please jump in your Mossies, scramble, scramble, scramble your brains with tinnitus for five minutes and I’m sure you’ll be very aware of what we’re going through. I turned it all off last night and my ears are still ringing. - Fair enough, I do have a chronic case of tinnitus but I don’t like my Mossie to have to go through this kind of torment. Please, have a word with the CO, Station Commander, Flight and Squadron Leaders and bung em a fiver drink. Might wanna hand out some ear defenders for testing purposes but please, don’t make us record clips of it. It’s like I went down in the jungle somewhere and I’m being tortured with white noise and sleep deprivation. Track provided later if required, I need to get some earmuffs first. Thank you 1

Slippa Posted June 24 Posted June 24 Marvellous. Thanks for that. - while they’re tinkering with the sounds, whisper in their ears about the weird wind noise we get inside the Mossie. If it’s not too much trouble o course. Cheers
ED Team BIGNEWY Posted June 24 ED Team Posted June 24 No problem, I've stressed to the team this is an annoying one and needs to be addressed ASAP 4 Forum rules - DCS Crashing? PL_Harpoon Posted Monday at 12:19 PM Posted Monday at 12:19 PM Until it gets fixed you can turn it off completely with a quick workaround:

PL_Harpoon Posted Monday at 06:20 PM Posted Monday at 06:20 PM Worked for me, but one time I had to restart the game for it to work.

_Hoss Posted Monday at 07:21 PM Posted Monday at 07:21 PM (edited) It doesn't work for me either, the file structure is a bit vague on which folder of the download goes where. I hate it when there is a mod fix, but no clear explanation of how to install it. The first file in Sounds is called Sounds in my install, it the ATM88 mod Saved Games/Sounds/Sounds/Ground units The download is: Sounds/sdef/aircrafts/Mosquito What goes where.... figured it out, just put the sdef folder in the main sounds folder.. if at first you don't succeed, screw it up again... till you screw it up the correct way.. I'm wondering if the 88 mod actually has sound now... Edited Monday at 07:40 PM by _Hoss Sempre Fortis
PL_Harpoon Posted Monday at 07:42 PM Posted Monday at 07:42 PM Here's my file structure: nullnull Here's what I did just now: Made a new mission in ME, placed a Mosquito as client (start from ground) and ran it: mod didn't work - the horn was present. Quit to desktop, restarted the game, run the same mission from the main menu: it worked.
