ED will not even consider my wish then?

we would need to see evidence that it is possible, then you have to remember this is a wish post, and even if the team did accept your wish, free dev time would be needed. So if you are expecting a quick turn around on your wish I dont want you to be disappointed, its better to set realistic expectations.

thank you

I have come to accept that anything asked of Eagle Dynamics does not come quickly BigNewy. All I ask is that it is considered and I get some form of response. As you point out this is a wish list and as the real Yak-52 can be fitted with external light as an extra. I only wondered whether it was possible for ours…….

I will need to show some evidence to the team before they will consider it.

If you have any evidence or references please attach them

thanks

Pictures for you BigNewy. They are off the internet but they are off real Yak-52’s. Also according to google they can fit external lights as optional extras.

Speaking about original, soviet times Yak-52, - all the gauges that have a letter "K" at the end of their naming are capable to be back-lighted (red light) - they just have to be connected to electric power. However, I did not see this to be done IRL. Original Yaks-52 did not have any external lights (except an external green lamp on the left side of the plane to indicate that the GPU or other external electric power source is connected and which is not modeled in DCS if I remember properly). As the plane was not flying in the flight schools and airclubs night time those gauges were not connected (I did not find any info that planes were pre-prepared for this from the factory) and there were no switches or regulators to bring their backlighting ON). At the same time planes were equipped with ARC-15, PU-26 (GMK-1) and Baklan or other radios and it was easy to install any lamps to their control units. Nowadays people equip their planes as they wish, so, you can see everything. There also are Romanian built planes, Yak-52W and they can have lights.

By the way, in DCS we have a "First flight" livery for Yak and some of those planes IRL have at least NAV lights (there are a lot of videos on youtube) and some "glass" gauges inside (from Frontline avionics ) And if great people at DCS modeled the smoke button in the first cabin which does not present on a standard Yak why not to consider modelling lights:)))

Meanwhile, if there is an urgent need, why not to buy and use GPS from DCS, I think this is possible - I did not try myself, but someone can tell us is this possible or not. The GPS must be lighted and provide some information like speed and direction+position. For the rest a pilot's flash light can be used (by the way, why this flashlight does not illuminate the plane's wing?).
