AlpineGTA Posted September 5 Posted September 5 I wasn't sure where to ask this because it's not just C-130 specific and I'm surprised more people haven't been excited by it, but are there any plans to incorporate the first person walk around feature into other modules (new and existing)? I believe it's a long wished for feature, especially in VR and is one of the main reasons I'll be buying it. 4 i5-11600K CPU, 64GB DDR4 RAM, XFX Speedster MERC319 AMD Radeon 6900 XT, Oculus Quest 2, HP Reverb G2

That's why I asked, now it's a thing on the C-130, are there any plans to introduce it into the wider game and other modules? i5-11600K CPU, 64GB DDR4 RAM, XFX Speedster MERC319 AMD Radeon 6900 XT, Oculus Quest 2, HP Reverb G2

Guess that would be up to ED/ other 3rd parties if they're willing to figure out how to code it. Pretty sure that is something ASC said they were able to code and figure out. Maybe others don't see as much value since there is less to interact with in a fighter/attack aircraft. Whereas the C-130 has the entire cargo bay and cargo operations. 2
draconus Posted Thursday at 07:44 PM Posted Thursday at 07:44 PM Sounds like a no brainer for the Hook and other haulers but also as an aircraft walkaround before the flight. 1 Win10 i7-10700KF 32GB RTX4070S Quest 3 T16000M VPC CDT-VMAX TFRP FC3 MiG-29A F-14A/B F-15E CA SC NTTR PG Syria
Someone Posted yesterday at 12:17 AM Posted yesterday at 12:17 AM It was a considerable amount of work to implement. The main challenge is collision: how to avoid the player clipping through walls, the ground, or the interior of the cargo bay. I'm sure that ED has plans for their own feature of this type, but this version is distinct to the ASC C-130. 5 2
draconus Posted yesterday at 09:37 AM Posted yesterday at 09:37 AM @Someone Is it just the camera or we can see the body in 1st person view, or even can other player see us walking around from another aircraft in MP? 1 Win10 i7-10700KF 32GB RTX4070S Quest 3 T16000M VPC CDT-VMAX TFRP FC3 MiG-29A F-14A/B F-15E CA SC NTTR PG Syria
Someone Posted yesterday at 04:59 PM Posted yesterday at 04:59 PM Other players wont see you. The update rate for multiplayer sync is not fast enough to make it look reasonable. I havent spent the time to get the body to execute a compelling walking animation for your own player yet either. I maybe will try, but its not very simple. For what its worth, none of our testers have ever commented on the "missing" body. You just dont really notice. 3 1

I That's surprising. ED didn't want to share their ejected walking pilot? It's good enough for the task imho. I'm one of those that do notice lack of body in VR. It's just flying camera without one. Also surprising how the fast aicraft are synched in MP but the walking guy can't? At least the pilots are there 2 Win10 i7-10700KF 32GB RTX4070S Quest 3 T16000M VPC CDT-VMAX TFRP FC3 MiG-29A F-14A/B F-15E CA SC NTTR PG Syria
Someone Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago I dont think that the walking pilot animation would have been good enough. Also, the pilot feature here involves other actions, like opening doors, jumping/crouching, or shooting an M4. You will notice that, in multiplayer, you cannot see the "walking ejected pilot" of other players. That is purely a client side thing. Re VR/missing pilot body being noticeable: that's because your legs are straight out in front of you, directly in the field of view. The same isnt true when walking around with your arms at your side. In any event: I'd like to implement a better walking animation and drive it through this feature, and I might even do it. But I want to be fully transparent about what the feature does today, and what you should expect on release. 1 2
draconus Posted 7 minutes ago Posted 7 minutes ago That's fair enough. Thank you for the explanation and, of course, it's already a new great feature Win10 i7-10700KF 32GB RTX4070S Quest 3 T16000M VPC CDT-VMAX TFRP FC3 MiG-29A F-14A/B F-15E CA SC NTTR PG Syria
