Located near Naples, just out of bounds of the detailed area. RDAF and RNoAF flew from there in 1999 during Operation Allied Force, a first time deployment of F-16's for both nations. A lot of Danes and Norwegians would be very pleased to see it added.

Dear OnReTech,

Will medium civil airports as Vršac airport be included later or at release? Asking because there is many of smaller civil airports on German map.

Thank you.

p.s. Today, Ive got best gift for birthday from you, announcing this map! 😊💪

Rivolto airbase is missing in Friuli, but even more important is Ghedi. It’s further on the west of north Italy, but it was one of the most crucial bases during the conflict. To expand there, alongside the addition of the Tornado, would be essential to reproduce real operations

Although not as frequently as the Italian bases but two airbases in Hungary were also involved.
TASZAR Airbase was busy as a logistic hub receiving many transport aircraft. Also reconnaissance operations with USAF Predators operating from the base.
KECSKEMET Airbase was doing daily CAP operations with MiG-29 aircraft.

It's the home of Frecce Tricolori, and it falls inside the current high/med detail area.

Hi!

Please add some hungarian air bases too.

Taszar AFB (LHTA) played a critical role during the balkan wars. I think it's a must for helo and Hercules operations. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Taszár_Air_Base

Kecskemét AFB (LHKE) is the main Air Force base in Hungary, home of the JAS-39 Gripens.

Szolnok AFB (LHSN) is home of hungarian helicopters including Mi-24P, Mi-17 (Mi-8MTV) Airbus H145 and Airbus H225 types.

Szentkirályszabadja near Veszprém was also home for Mi-24s and Mi-8/17s. It was closed in 2004, but during Balkan war was operational

These bases are in the green marked territory!

At the northern part of the green border are two also important bases. Pápa AFB (LHPA), where C-17 cargo planes are stationed and the Liszt Ferenc International Airport (LHBP) near Budapest.

I think, Taszar, Kecskemét and Szolnok are a must for this map, but Pápa, Szentkirályszabadja and Budapest Itl. Airport would be also a nice addition.

Thanks!

As a Hungarian, I completely agree. Taszár's presence can be justified historically, and it would also open up new opportunities for mission makers if Hungarian airports were also accessible.

Refreshing the list of all main and medium airports available in the Balkan region:

airports-list1.jpg

In Purple color are the new ones, still not included yet, which would still make sense to maybe include to the Balkan map.

Making this a separate topic and It is amazing to hear that a Balkan map is finally coming to DCS. With seeing the planned map, I do have some wishes of certain airfields/cities that can be added which would make the map overall more complete and true to the feeling it is trying to convey.

As in the attached image, I propose the following:
1. In Romania: - LRTR/TSR - Timișoara International Airport / also is 93rd Air Base Giarmata
                        - LRAR/ARW - Arad International Airport
                        - LROD/OMR - Oradea International Airport
                        - LRCS/CSB - Caransebeș International Airport / also was 73rd Air Base Caransebeș
2. In Hungary: - LHKE/QHK - Kecskemet Air Base
                         - LHTA - Taszár Air Base
Reason:
Adding these airbases will undoubtedly complete this map and make it much stronger compared to others from a historical, logistical, and operational point of view. I mean- it already is with everything going on in the Balkans, but for a complete sense of realism regarding the Balkan operations, this would be the cherry on top. The 93rd Air Base existed at Giarmata (on the civil LRTR field), it was disbanded in Aug 2004 and its military sector is now an annex of the 71st Air Base, hosting the 712th Helicopter Squadron also a newly formed Romanian UAV Bayraktar squadron. In the past, this airfield operated MiG-21s, a large number of MiG-23s. During the 90's and early 2000's. this airbase hosted some US Reserve aircraft for logistics, such as C-130s. The Arad International Airport is a rather small airport in the city of Arad but it has a rich history as it had been used in intensely in WW2, currently however it is rarely used for commercial flights and it functions as a base for Emergency Rescue Air Service of Romania called SMURD. It could function as an alternate or emergency airfield. The Oradea International airport located close to Hungary's border can function as a simple yet one of a kind airports as it can offer support to hungarian air bases in specific missions. The 73rd Air Base Caransebeș was a military airfield with units rotating across decades and most notably, a Helicopter Air Base was established in 1984 and operated until 2001. If I am not mistaken, the largest number of helicopters of the Romanian Air Force was stationed here, IAR-330s and IAR-316. What makes it unique is its location between dangerous mountains which also offers a unique view for take offs and landings. Now it functions as a private airport for the Romanian Airclub but it is ocasionally used by the RoAF. For Romania, especially as these airbases/airfields are in the greater detail part of the planned map, can offer a unique addition to the purpose of this balkan map. And as member TB mentioned in the wishlist, "TASZAR Airbase was busy as a logistic hub receiving many transport aircraft. Also reconnaissance operations with USAF Predators operating from the base. KECSKEMET Airbase was doing daily CAP operations with MiG-29 aircraft." Overall, all these airbases and airfields would be a great addition and I believe many more here would agree, would love to see it!

You can add airfields in few steps, like ED does with Germany Cold War map (or you on Sinai).

That is amazing to hear! If the team ever needs more in depth help with the Romanian bases, I can help with references and other stuff that may be needed! Can't wait to see this map come to life!
