Hey

I've installed BS 1.0.1a on Windows 7 64bit and if I start the game I get sound before I unpause it and jet planes have still sound of engines turned on although pilot's gone out of the plane. It's really strange because FC is working without of any these issues.

Look at this sample.

To try and fix it, switch back and forth between external view and the cockpit view a few times.

Try a search on sound issues and Blackshark in these forum as well to help.

Thanks for reply.:) I know that if I switch external view and the cockpit view it will "fix" it but still I'd like to know how to fix it forever.:joystick:

I have the same "issue" in Win7 Professional 64bit. When I start for instance an instant action mission where I start mid-air with engines started I can hear engine sounds in the final stages of mission loading and before unpausing the game. This did not occur in Win XP SP3.

It's nothing that really bothers me, but still interesting to see that someone else has experienced this.

I hate a similar issue. If I Esc-Pause or use an external view on the FARP pad I suddenly hear what I think is some mechanical pump for a nearby truck very loud and it follows me in the cockpit. The sound goes away once I get away from the FARP.

Similarly if I use pause/external while a plane is flying around I get a jet aircraft noise stuck in my head as if my head is stuck up the tail pipe. Any help for this?

There are certain problems with the current sound engine, indeed.

Many of the issues may be caused by the current implementation of sound. ED has also previously mentioned that they may take a deeped look into the sound-engine a bit further down the road of the DCS-series.

I think you must search some of the older sound-issues threads to find these very vague statements ... ;)

If you guys have Creative sound card use ALchemy filter, that should fix the issue in Vista and Windows 7... you can get it at creative website, same place where you download sound card driver.

Strange thing here:

Win 7 64 bit, Asus Xonar DX PCI-e:

Whenever I am low enough to "hear" gun tracers from armored ground units my frames drop to less then 1 (!). Sound of the gunshots sound very strange and it really seems to cause stress on the CPUs, cause, it immediately starts to become impossible to fly with that fps-rate.

When I lime far enough or get out of reach (in terms of sound) fps rise to normal level again.

Anyone else having this issue?

The sound effects are both Wav/Ogg files.

The visible effects are textures/graphics.

So, few possible causes come to mind.

1. The file being loaded from the disk, disk/system performance.

- SATA / disk controller / Chipset drivers, updating to latest versions. Poor or missing chipset/SATA drivers will cause issues like that.

2. A codec is required to play the file as sound

- You have installed some extra codec packs?

- Codec packs was delivered as part of your sound system installation?

Any 3'rd party codec that interefere with how WAV/OGG is played back may contribute to the issue.

3. The sound system performance

- Drivers affecting the performance of the sound system - update to the latest drivers?

- Or downgrade drivers in worst case?

4. Video drivers - latest version.

1. SATA-SSD. Is pretty fast.

2. Not that I am aware of, how can I restore the required codec w/o resinstalling the comlete game.

3.Checked, latest drivers dirrectly from Asus. But they aven't been updated for some time...on their page.

4.Just installed newest catalyst suite

No change so far.

1. Panzertard meant SATA drivers. Also chipset ones. Both drivers are in your motherboard webpage and they are very important.

Thanks Distiler :)

1. Yes, drivers for SATA - and hm, SSD. Is it really fine under Windows 7? Never tried it - but I know the earlier generations of SSD had various strange issues under other OS/BIOS versions. Stutter/lag/ performance issues. (Not generally with large file, but with alot of small files).

I heard it should be much better in Win7, but let's not dismiss it too quickly - keep it as another thing you may have to investigate.

2. DCS:BS never installed any codecs - it relies on the original one's delivered by your OS.

However if your sound system installed it's own codecs (I think I've seen this with Soundblaster), then you may have codecs which decode the sound a bit different - and/or includes some bugs while doing so.

Well, after I just had a BSOD with cmdudaxp.sys again, I found plenty of similar issues related to asus xonar dx sound cards with various games via google. So it is very likely a issue of this asus product. Unfortunately they do not really seem to monitor their forums for complaining customers. So, whoever else has similar issues with this sound card, please contact asus-support as well, to make the aware of that issue. Shoudl have sticked with Creative, but hey, from time to time, you have to give others a chance...

And don't forget to snd your memory dumps to microsoft after crashes, that also might help, sooner or later. I heared there is people that do not send these dumps to MS?!

I tried it with newest Realtek drivers and 3DSoundBack which is not working under Windows 7 64bit but this program only works with Vista compatibility mod. Anyway it doesn't seem to be working or at least for me. Is there any other way how to fix it please?:helpsmilie:
