Indeed, lets hope that we can return to a proper discussion now that a certain someone has relieved us of his presence.

By the way, does anyone know if we will have access to NVG's for night operations? Especially for CAS.

Also any information on the types of available AGM-65's would be appreciated(F,G,K,E?)

LOL...nice thread here...

But one question, does it really supposed to be 12 years until the game is finished at all? That doesnt really make any sense cause the Hardware Technology is growing too fast, may be the last Module is no more playable cause the then existing Hardware is no more supporting such an old engine, or are they about to improve the Engine more and more with every single Module? First DX 9 Cards have been released about 6 years ago. Think twice, what will we have in 12 years? DX 15? What OS will we have then? Will it still support superold games like DCS then? Do you keep your Hardweare stored in your basement to put it out in 2022 to play the last Module?

What is the basic Plan of ED? So in this case, Johnny seems to be right (exept his stupid mod chattering:doh:).

What are they plan about their Product?

It´s a bit funny way of thinking, I agree :D ..but basically a nice thing to think about...what dou you guys think?

Memphis, "the game" is already "finished". That is, DCS:BS is finished and successful. DCS:A10C, which is a stand-alone product, is under development.

LockOn is a Survey-simulator - which allows it to have more flyable aircraft at the expense of fidelity and detail. The DCS line of products are Study simulators where each simulator seeks to make an excrutiatingly detailed simulation of a specific aircraft. Compare to the Falcon series - were they incomplete because they only had one aircraft? (Mods not counted.)

DCS is not "a product", it's a whole series of products that share a brand name and general design philosophy with each other. (And hopefully multiplayer compatibility.)

Hello EtherealN,

thanks for your reply. I understand what you mean. DCS is not a full game it is the system itself what makes it called DCS, isn´t it? So in this case I agree with you when you say, that the game is already finished. But the, or better, my question is still, what is the exact plan of Eagle Dynamics? It is really a a bit boering to fly (as given in the DCS FAQ´s) combat pvp with Blackshark versus Blackshark. I love the massivly deep of this game. Its just awesome how realistic it is, but although its so realistic, it´s quite boring, cause you cant really do anthings without any or further equipment. My personal opinion is that ED is basically making a mistake to leave a huge space between each Module. They would make more money and they would recive more positive Feedback if they´d release 2 or three Modules each 9 month, but as I read a few posts above so that seems not to be possible since the dev team has a totaly number of 12 people, right?

Anyway, I like the game and looking forward for A10 which will hopefully been released asap..:D

... it's a trade secret? ;)

But the -general- idea is to get military simulation contracts and translate them into simulations for us.

Please search the forum and see what has been said again and AGAIN ad infinitum about such ideas.

TO summarize:

Modules will be released for one aircraft each.

Module content will tend to be dictated by military needs.

Modules will be released as fast as they can be, not as fast as you think they should be.

Modules really DO take this long to develop.

Modules still DO take this long to develop even though ED has more than 12 people working on things ;)

So you can expect MiG-29K/KUB, Mi-28N, MiG-AT in the future...:music_whistling:

But the, or better, my question is still, what is the exact plan of Eagle Dynamics?

I know you asked for the "exact" plan (which I am not privy to), but the general plan as I've understood it is for the DCS line is to use synergies from military contracts to be able to develop and publish a line of remarkably detailed study simulators for the commercial market.

PvP-oriented stuff will arrive for the DCS lineup when and if they become feasible to develop - for example, if MiG contracts ED to make a MiG-29K simulator we might be able to see a DCS:MiG-29K.

But I would tell you that I've had a lot of very tense and gratifying moments of PvP in BlackShark multiplayer. It's just that the PvP wasn't the original object of my mission on the server - I just rounded a corner on the way to my objective and there was a nasty hostile helicopter that I found myself having to deal with. Usually that ends with my own death though, since I'm really much better at handling ground threats than air threats. :P

As I am sure you understand, it is very difficult to make a DCS : PvP in the sense of fast-jets until ED is able to get the level of information needed to make a DCS-standard simulation of a fast-jet. For your fast-jet needs you do have LO:FC which is a fine product. Especially the FC bit in that it allows a more detailed Su-25 for use in moving mud. ;)

It is really a a bit boering to fly (as given in the DCS FAQ´s) combat pvp with Blackshark versus Blackshark.

Definitely. Head to head or pure A2A in BS is not all that much fun. But that is because it simulates an attack helicopter. ;)

And in meeting engagement missions with two teams working against each other you do get some nice PvP. It's just that with an attack helicopter you just cannot make an A2A game and hope to be labeled as "realistic".

The dev team is more than 12 people, as GG noted.

But on rushing out more modules, I hope you don't think ED is delaying products on purpose. That would be remarkably stupid since it would diminish the revenue stream, and since ED is a for-profit operation it's safe to assume that they will not be putting aside possible revenue just to annoy the Lock On community. ;)

The point is that developing these simulations is a lot of work. As you are aware, it's not just a case of making a new model and quickly hacking the cockpit to flips some switches. There is a LOT of stuff going on under the hood that allows DCS to be as realistic as it is (the kind of nitpicking we have to do to find fault in the realism up in the DCS section is testament to that). The DCS modules are developed as fast as is feasible, and for now they are A2G-oriented. You should note though that the third module has not been announced (people assume it'll be the AH64a, with relatively good reason, but until that has been officially announced it's still speculative), and you can always hope that the next US ANG contract will be an F-16 Block 60 trainer or something nice like that.

And trust me, GG is feeling your pain, fighter jockey that he is. :P

In-game Personnel

I was curious if there are any plans to incorporate dismounted infantry within DCS A10 or BS. Attacking or defending infatry is a large part of the current CAS role, especially in current wars where the enemy does not possess significant vehicles.
